I became a GM because
I've been telling stories for as long as I can remember, and the only thing more fun than making them is getting to make them with others! The joy of crafting a world that allows people to live inside a story and shape it is unparalleled to me.
My favorite books are
Some recent favorites would be The Name of the Wind, The Black Tongue Thief, and Small Gods!
How Andrew Neighbors runs games
My style of GM’ing is animated, immersive, and story-first. Complete with vivid descriptions, curated soundtracks, and voiced NPCs. In my games, the rules system exists to uplift the story and the unique joy of TTRPGS that comes from ceding control of the narrative to the actions of the players or roll of the dice! Outside of Role-play, expect a fair share of homebrew monsters, magic items, and dynamic set pieces to keep battles interesting and give you new ways to engage with your character's abilities!

I deal with rules issues by...
Coming to a quick consensus at the table if the rule is obscure or hard to look up. So long as the Players are in agreement, I often find it's better to maintain the pace of the game rather than look up an edge case.
Rules are...
First and foremost, a tool for storytelling! Though you might be surprised to learn I tend to prefer games with crunchy mechanics as opposed to rules-light narrative games. I love how mechanics can allow a player to immerse themselves in character rather than keep a bird's-eye view as a storyteller.
