About the adventure

It has been eight years since the Witchlight Carnival visited the outskirts of your sleepy little town. Eight years since you sneaked your way in, uninvited, to partake of its otherworldly delights. Eight years since a piece of yourself was stolen, and you have never been the same. Now the Carnival has returned. Now you can search for answers, and maybe even find them. Now you can recover the part of you that was stolen, if you are very clever and very brave. You'll find a world of whimsy and wonder when you venture through the looking glass. Witches and worse will oppose you, but your wits and wiles may prove to be more reliable than violence on this adventure. A fairy tale of fun awaits in the Wild Beyond the Witchlight.

About me

Well met, adventurers! I'm a DM with over seven years of experience running games for 5e and have had the good fortune of finishing multiple campaigns, many of which lasted for over a year. Whether you're a veteran or a novice, a min-maxer or a casual player, a serious role player or a player who just wants to do an old-fashioned dungeon crawl; odds are I've already hosted a game that's exactly the sort of thing you're looking for! I like to start off each campaign (and even one shots) with a session zero in order to ensure a smooth start to an experience where everyone at the table can get the most out of the adventure. I'm familiar with most of the 5e modules published by WotC, but am no stranger to creating campaigns from scratch. In either case, I strive to incorporate player characters into the plot to make players feel integral to the story. Everyone should have their time in the spotlight! I could talk about myself more, but the best way to get to know me is to join the Discord we'll be using for our games. That way I can personally answer any questions you might have about the games I run and how I run them. Join our Discord by requesting a link from me, and I'll send you the invitation as soon as I can!

Character creation

Creating your character

- Characters created in session zero on Discord. - Player characters begin at level 3. - Roll for stats or point buy if you don't like the stats you rolled. - Milestone level up system. - Roll for HP or take the average. - Characters will finish the campaign at level 8.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

- Join the Discord: https://discord.gg/BnqFAE6axE - Microphone/headset required - Roll20 account, though those who prefer D&D Beyond can still use their character sheets by using the Beyond20 extension. - I can help you build your characters and level up, but I expect you to know your own abilities once you have them.

What Robert brings to the table

- Role20 Plus level subscription with content sharing enabled. - D&D Beyond Master Tier subscription with content sharing enabled. - A FREE session zero where we can coordinate character creation. - I've completed this adventure before, after running it for nearly a year. - I encourage using existing NPCs as part of your backstory, or creating backstory NPCs to bring into the adventure so your character has stakes and a sense of belonging in the world. - I support bending rules for the Rule of Cool as far as possible without breaking them. As long as what you're attempting is remotely possible and doesn't explicitly contradict a rule, you are free to attempt it.

Safety

How Robert creates a safe table

- There's a channel in the Discord where we can list our lines and veils. - X, N, and O's can be sent over Discord or Roll20. - We'll have a FREE session zero to discuss how lines and veils will be implemented. - No element of the story is worth causing players unwanted emotional distress. Don't ever be afraid to speak up at any time and put our safety tools to use!
