About the adventure
In the quiet town of Phandalin, a simple escort job quickly unravels into something far greater: goblins, missing persons, and whispers of a long-lost mine filled with forgotten magic. As danger grows, the choices you make will shape your legacy as adventurers. This is a game rooted in the best parts of classic Dungeons & Dragons: adventure, memorable NPCs, thrilling encounters, and player-driven choices that shape the world. Whether you’re brand new to D&D or a seasoned adventurer, this game is designed to be welcoming, immersive, and fun. I’ll guide you through the rules, support your creativity, and make sure everyone has a chance to shine. All you need is a spirit of adventure and a willingness to dive in. The mine is waiting. Will you answer the call?

About me
I’m a proud nerd with a deep love for all things fantasy, horror, and sci-fi (especially old school science fiction novels). Like a lot of forever DMs, I got my start when my friends wanted to play but had no interest in actually learning the rules. So, I dove in headfirst and haven’t looked back since. I’ve always gravitated toward structure and storytelling, and I believe that, in the words of the great philosopher Bluey, “the rules make it fun.” I’m someone who genuinely enjoys understanding the mechanics of the game; but more than that, I love using those rules to create unforgettable stories and moments for players. One of the most fulfilling parts of being a Game Master for me is helping new players discover D&D for the first time. Whether it’s building a world that is immersive, a memorable NPC, or guiding a table of beginners through their first fight in a dungeon, I find genuine fulfillment in making the game accessible and unforgettable. While I enjoy all kinds of tabletop games, Dungeons & Dragons has always been my true passion and creative outlet.

Creating your character
Characters will be created before the first session using D&D Beyond. If you don’t already have an account, you’ll need to make one—it’s free and super user-friendly. Once you’re in, go to “Characters” → “Create a Character” → “Standard” (and click the help text if you need guidance). Use Core Rules + Expanded Rules for your choices, and we’ll be using the Standard Array for ability scores. Starting level will be Level 1, and I’m happy to help if you get stuck or have any questions at all—don’t hesitate to reach out! You’re welcome to write a backstory, but no pressure to go deep if that’s not your style. A few personality quirks or an unexpected twist can go a long way: think a sensitive dragonborn rogue or a brash, socially awkward halfling. The most important thing is that you create a character you’re excited to play.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Before we jump into the adventure, here are a few quick steps to get set up: 1. Create a D&D Beyond account. This is where you’ll build and manage your character. 2. Create a Discord account and download the app. We’ll use Discord for voice chat during the session. 3. Install the Above VTT browser extension. This connects your D&D Beyond character sheet to our virtual tabletop. It works with Chrome or Firefox, just Google “Above VTT” and follow the install instructions.
What Justin Greer brings to the table
My games are immersive, story-driven, and fun. I use character voices, ambient music, and follow the rules of D&D 5e closely, but I’m always open to bending them for bold, creative, or heroic moments. Expect a good mix of humor, heart, and high stakes, where teamwork and character choices drive the story.

How Justin Greer creates a safe table
In Session 0, we’ll cover some basic expectations, tone, and table guidelines, but we’ll also dive into the game so you can start having fun right away. I use the X-Card system for safety: if something makes you uncomfortable at any point, just message me “X” (or say it out loud), and we’ll pause, adjust, or skip that content: no questions asked, no need to explain. My goal is to create a space where everyone feels respected and safe to roleplay, explore, and have fun. After sessions, I’m always open to check-ins or feedback. You’re never bothering me by reaching out.
