Creating your character
We'll be using D&D Beyond and starting at level 1. During our session 0, we will determine the stat setup for your characters. I'll be granting certain feats at level 1 to enhance your characters' abilities. While I plan to allow a degree of freedom in character creation, keep in mind that Thylea is a roleplay-rich environment. If you have something extraordinary in mind for your character, I might allow it, but I challenge you to craft a compelling character backstory to justify those unique aspects.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Join me on Discord, where I will create a private chat for us to discuss your character. We'll bounce ideas off each other, explore concepts, and develop backstories. To participate, you'll need a Discord account and a D&D Beyond account. We will also incorporate Owlbear Rodeo into our sessions.
What Shadow brings to the table
As your Dungeon Master, I am committed to providing an immersive and engaging experience for all players. To enhance our gameplay, I offer the following: D&D Beyond Content: I have nearly all the player content unlocked on D&D Beyond, which I will share with you by adding you to our campaign. This grants you access to a wide array of character options, allowing you to fully customize your hero to suit your playstyle and the campaign setting. Discord for Sessions: We will use Discord for our game sessions, ensuring clear communication and a platform for roleplaying and out-of-game discussions. Owlbear Rodeo for Combat: To make our battles more engaging and tactical, we will utilize Owlbear Rodeo as our Virtual Tabletop (VTT). This will allow me to present custom maps and tokens, bringing the world to life and making combat more immersive. As for my GM style, I strive to create a balance between roleplaying, exploration, and combat. I enjoy bringing NPCs to life with distinct mannerisms, making each interaction memorable. During combat, I aim to make encounters challenging and tactical, encouraging teamwork and strategic thinking. While I generally adhere to the Rules as Written, I am not averse to embracing the Rule of Cool when it serves the story and creates unforgettable moments for the players. You can expect a game that prioritizes character development, narrative depth, and player agency. I will work with each of you to weave your character's backstory into the larger tapestry of the campaign, ensuring that your hero's journey is meaningful and impactful. Above all, my goal is to facilitate a fun, engaging, and collaborative storytelling experience for everyone involved.
