About Shadow
I run play-by-post. Not as a sideline — it's the format I've built everything around, and 66 games and three years later I'm still here, still posting, still finishing campaigns. If you've never played by post: we play in text, on Discord, with no scheduled session. You read what happened and write your character's part when you get a moment. It works for people with unpredictable jobs, people in an awkward timezone, and people who'd rather write a good paragraph than think of something clever during three seconds of silence on a voice call. What I care about is your character mattering. Tell me the impossible thing you want to pull off and I'll help you find the road to it. I know the rules well enough to bend them when bending them makes the better scene. And I split my attention on purpose — quiet players get as much room as loud ones, which is the thing text genuinely does better than voice.

How Shadow runs games
Descriptive prose is the point. I write scenes you can walk around in, and I lean hard into horror when the story wants it — that's the thing players bring up most. The balance: roleplay first, combat with real teeth, and consequences that follow from what your character actually chose rather than punishing you for choosing. Rules as written until a player has a better idea, then I'll bend for the better idea. The range: 5e across the Realms and Krynn — Dragonlance, Ravenloft, Baldur's Gate. And I'll teach you Discord, Avrae, and the entire format from zero without making it weird.
Shadow's ideal table
Laid-back and an actual community. I run several games at once, and players stick around between campaigns. You'll fit if you like writing, you're patient with other people's schedules, and you want your backstory used instead of filed. Complete beginners are genuinely welcome — some of my best players are people whose first D&D was a play-by-post game with me. You won't fit if you want a fast tactical grind, or if you plan to lurk. Give me a post with something in it, and I'll give you the world back. I will challenge you for more because I want you to be truly invested in the story and group.

I love it when a player

I think min/maxing...
It's fine as long as you have fun with your character and enjoy what you're doing.
