From Prisoner to Liberator, The Crystal Shards
Magic is dying. War looms. You’re a prisoner caught between rival nations. Your choices may rewrite the fate of a world still haunted by ruin.
About the adventure
Four centuries ago, a war shattered the world and snuffed out magic itself. Now, in an age of steam and steel, whispers rise of forgotten gods, broken nations, and power buried in the Wastelands. Magic is nearly dead. Steam powers the world now, not spells. But deep in the dust of a vanished Elven empire, ancient machines stir, and something long buried begins to awaken.

Sets the Mood
I am a new player, so Dylan was patient and explained everything well and has been making sure all my sessions are fun and engaging. He's quite forgiving, has amazing worldbuilding skills and the maps feel like they're professional level. He puts a lot of time into things. Everybody feels like they're part of the group even if they're more of a quiet type of person. Will really learn your character to make sure things are included about your character in the story and what not. Overall great experience!
Dylan has been a professional and engaging Dungeon Master. He fosters player creativity, embraces the rule of cool, and enhances the experience with impressive visuals and sound design through Foundry Virtual Tabletop. His approach consistently cultivates an enjoyable and immersive environment for all participants. He has been patient with scheduling as well.
Started playing with him in a different campaign as a player. When he decided to DM, was more than thrilled to play. Is pretty fluid with rules, specially if you can describe well what you are trying to do. Puts in alot of time and thought into each campaign, but also will work with you to see where your character fits in the story being told.
Character creation
Creating your character
Players will create their characters through D&D Beyond's website and joining my campaign on the site. By doing so, the players will also gain access to my D&D content books. If the player needs any assistance in creating their character, I will be glad to help! If needed, I can schedule a free session dedicated to character creation. Each character should have their own backstory which will be used in the campaign, and character art. AI art is acceptable as not everyone is an artist or can afford to commission one. The starting level for everyone's character will be level 1, or higher depending on if a player is joining mid campaign.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Before starting the first session of the campaign, each player should do the following: - Join the discord - Create an account on Foundry Links will be provided for each upon registration.
What Dylan brings to the table
Besides utilizing the many great features in Foundry (ambience, music, etc.), you can expect to meet some fun and memorable characters along your journey! While I stick to the rules as mostly guidelines, I go by the Rule of Cool during our sessions. As a fun little bonus, there are hidden achievements in my campaigns for you to get and earn points!

How Dylan creates a safe table
If there is ever a topic that comes up during the session, players can easily send me a private message in Discord and the subject will be avoided. I always chat with my players after each session to ask what they liked, disliked, and what they are looking forward to do next time.
