Vault of the Forgotten Wing
Beneath wind-scoured hills lies a tomb of a fallen sky empire. What secrets stir in the silence the Aearee left behind?
About the adventure
Unearthed secrets. Forgotten empires. A tomb that breathes. The Candlekeep Archaeologists Society has made a miraculous discovery in the windswept hills near the mining town of Amberhill—a newly uncovered tomb sealed for millennia and bearing markings not seen since the fall of the Aearee, the lost bird-folk empire that ruled Faerûn’s skies in ages past. You are among a select few hired to investigate the site, recover relics, and ensure its safety. But this is no ordinary ruin. The cairn pulses with unseen energies, its halls suspended in strange gravity, and the air hums with whispers that claw at the edges of memory. This adventure is designed for level 12 characters and blends high-fantasy dungeon exploration with themes of archaeology, ancient magic, and elemental strangeness. Players can expect classic dungeon crawling layered with narrative depth, dangerous puzzles, and high-stakes encounters against sentient constructs, vengeful spirits, and traps shaped by lost technologies. The focus is on smart play, environmental interaction, and uncovering buried lore that reshapes what you know about the world. This game is ideal for experienced players who enjoy immersive storytelling, cinematic encounters, and piecing together the mysteries of a forgotten past. If you like the feel of Tomb of Annihilation, Numenera, or Indiana Jones meets spelljamming ruins, this is your next expedition. Welcome to the Vault of the Forgotten Wing!

About me
I have a love of storytelling and a drive and passion to share it with others. I've been successfully running several Dungeon and Dragons games over the past 8 years, and I'm fortunate enough to have one game run the entire time. I think this is a game for everyone and the more accessible it is to people the better. From mentoring new dungeon masters, and creating a library of homebrew content, to running games for brand-new players on a cruise ship, I've gotten to do so many things thanks to this hobby.

Caleb's world building is on another level, he always had answer and everywhere my character wanted to go, there was something for her to do or interact with. His game felt like a healthy balance of open world style, with enough structure to the NPCs and clues, that you also have several clear paths forward to your objective. He's patient, entertaining and does well playing as his NPCs as they would act, as well as combining great voices and impeccably timed background music during both combat and roleplay. If you're looking for a refreshing experience with a DM that loves the game and will collaborate with you on what you want to accomplish, this is the guy for you. I'll be back over and over again, I can't wait to see more one shots pop up.
I've played with Caleb several times now. As a DM, he is the perfect balance of professional and fun. He makes great use of virtual assets (Owlbear, Music, tokens, etc), has a great grasp on the mechanics of the game, is very friendly and easy to talk to, and seems to always support the rule of cool while keeping the mechanics of the game in line - which not all DMs do well. He has a great sense of humor, does great improv and DM voicing, and generally is a pleasure to have as a DM. I look forward to gaming with Caleb again.
Highly recommend joining one of Caleb's sessions. He's great at storytelling and knows just how to make a session fun and interesting. I've played 2 of his one shots so far and they've been one of the best sessions I've played. He's able to create very balanced games with encounters of varying difficulty that allow players to feel powerful at times and also challenged during others. If you're looking for games with plenty of action, storytelling, and creativity, then look no further!
Character creation
Creating your character
Character creation should happen before the game starts. Please design a character at 12th-level, with a free feat at level 1 (variant human will not get an extra free feat). For stat generation, I encourage either using 2d6+6 or 4d6 drop lowest. This game assumes using the 2014 legacy ruleset, and anything published under the 2014 rules is fine. If there is homebrew content you would like to use, drop me a line, and I'm sure we can make it work!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
In order to enjoy the game online, you will need access to Discord, a microphone, and the rules for Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition. This fast-paced game assumes the player has at least a general familiarity with the rules and their character sheet. Have a character created ahead of time, and if you have any questions, you can always reach out to me!
What Caleb Mitchell brings to the table
I use Owlbear Rodeo as a VTT and custom maps and tokens for player characters! Ambient music and various character voices will be used to help set the mood. If you have a fun idea for your character, I always try and embrace the rule of cool when appropriate to let your character shine!
