About the adventure
Gather... Your party and venture within... Sugar, alcohol, wood, and silk... Credits and materials to sharpen your tools... Hunt... Otherworldly monsters born of myths and dreams... Legendary treasure hidden below... Stolen students, before it's too late... Delve... Forgotten cities and sunken isles... Secrets lost and ancient lies... Deeper than any has gone before! The Dungeons are dangerous, but the table is safe ā inclusion and respect are the foundations; fun and camaraderie are what we build off of that. All who can share in these values are welcome! š³āš A dungeon-crawling, class-skipping, beer-drinking sandbox. Lighthearted adventure with a generous sprinkling of humor, gut-clenching dread, and brain tickling mystery. Exploration focused at its heart, this game is about going to new and interesting places and taking stuff from them, for better or worse. Our world, but changed ā we were rejected from the surface and all our workings came undone. Only the realms of legend held that which could bring life, so it began that those who wanted to save us would risk themselves beneath. Generations passed. Eventually they found within a answer to the endless lives thrown into the depths, and from there the schools were born, so that the Dungeons could be mastered and civilization could thrive. You are a student at one of these schools. Ready to apply? Games not on your schedule? Message me - I can open up another time slot.

Highly rated for: Creativity, Inclusive, Knows the Rules
About me
I'm a Canadian cat-owner with a garden full of strawberries and heart full of dreams. I've been designing, playing, and running table-top games for some twenty-odd years, mostly underground for small-to-medium groups of friends or people I meet online. These days I'm looking to spend most of my time Game Mastering. I miss the days of having 20+ players and running games multiple times a week. I especially enjoy learning and digesting new systems, so any excuse to get into some new mechanics is sure to get me going. I'll try running anything at least once, with a few notable exceptions for my own sanity and love of gaming.

I've been playing with Alex for years, and I still have very fond memories of the games we shared even a long time ago. Alex as a Game Master is open to player ideas, never overbearing, and always full of delightful ingenuity that makes encountering new situations and puzzles really invigorating! Highly recommend!
Alex has the sort of inexhaustible creative energy that only comes about when a brilliant, eccentric wizard gets way too much time on his hands. I've seen this unstoppable madman take a sprawling multi-planar Megadungeon campaign with easily over a hundred hours of world-building, and pivot it from an oldschool dungeon crawl into a light-hearted romp integrated into a City Building simulator and then back to an epic, heroic adventure and then into a cyberpunk-inspired wargame. He can run the game you're looking for. He's also legitimately a cool/chill dude. I implore you to not pass up the opportunity to seat at his table.
I've been playing RPGs with Alex since 2020 and can highly recommend him to anyone who is looking to play in an immersive and exciting game that is tailored to your character(s) and your choices. Whether you are a seasoned vet or a newb who still has some sparkle left in their eye, Alex's ability to create rich and engaging worlds is second to none. Alex's games tend to be a good balance of narrative, role-playing, and mechanics. So, if you're looking for a reliable, creative, and professional GM who genuinely cares about creating a great experience for the table, I can't recommend Alex enough. Worth every penny.
I have been playing in Alex's games for 11 years now and recently have started paying him for games. He is an excellent GM, one of the best I've ever known, and there are too many strong points to list. Though here are some ones that are notable. Excellent Worldbuilding - His worlds are well thought out and have many little secrets that one can explore and discover Player Driven Story - He will create an overarching story, but never do you ever feel like you are on a railroad. Especially because he will put many different threads to follow, and let players decide which thread they want to pull Fun NPCs - Alex makes great NPCs, often quirky and weird in a believable way. They will make you laugh and be memorable. Knows the rules but is flexible - Whatever system Alex is running he will know the rules well, but never does he let himself be constrained by them. He will homebrew or allow rule of cool moments; whatever helps the story and lets the players have fun.
Character creation
Creating your character
Character creation will be guided and collaborative during session 0, using mostly the standard Dungeon World character creation process. I will be allowing supplements, on a case-by-case basis (Alchemist, from Incomplete Adventurer, for example, has some content already pre-loaded into the game and is already approved). I'll also be including expanded species options, with a caveat to be elaborated on. Player characters in the game are, or were, human (for the most part, see below). Deaths in the dungeon cause physical changes, and this causes and accounts for the other species traits. That is, except, Denizens, who are just of non-human species (such as the dwarves in the shallows of Agartha). If you want to play a Denizen, someone who has always been a fantasy species, there may be special rules and roleplaying opportunities. You'll want to be able to answer questions about why you would have joined the school, at the very least.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Discord and Roll20 accounts required for voice and tabletop. Microphone needed for voice chat. Dungeon World has a freely available SRD for players who have not or cannot purchase the book. Be ready with a general idea for a character, but with a couple backups in mind in case of overlap from other players. The first scheduled session that has 3 or more players will be at least partially a session 0 where we build characters and choose which homeroom the students will belong to.
What Alex (WaityGhost) brings to the table
Game takes place in three main modes: ⢠RP in School (Cafeteria and Homeroom, some shared options) ⢠Dungeon Delves, where PCs will explore and fight in the dungeon ⢠Options, where players choose customized downtime actions that have a variety of effects, including classes and workshop time **MAPS** ⢠Custom maps created in Inkarnate ⢠Dynamic lighting, for the real dungeon feel ⢠Dozens of distinct dungeons to explore! Simple and distinct custom tokens made for the game, including: ⢠Monsters ⢠Resources on the map ⢠Various cards/coins for player convenience **Roll20's Decks will make tracking your credits, and the various materials easy, and tactile. Even trade amongst other players!** Most of the roleplay will take place over discord. I do some character voices reasonably well, and I attempt dutifully every single one that comes up. My old men and monsters are pretty good. Sometimes we might split RP between voice and Text in Roll20 to keep multiple threads going at once, depending on the number of players and where they are in the story. Dungeon World itself is very rules-lite, but I've created custom mechanics to make each dungeon interesting and unique, including but not limited to: ⢠Entertaining status effects (Frog, Shroomed, Berserk) ⢠Potent consumables (Dwarven Noodles, Applegel, Bronze Key) ⢠Powerful magic items (Lost Arms, Rings & Charms) ⢠A veritable fever dream of distinct monsters
Homebrew rules
Modified death rules, where characters who perish will instead be returned to the entrance of the dungeon, usually with some small cosmetic physical alteration and some lost memories (pending player and GM approval). Lightweight crafting system for upgrading weapons and armor, as well as an alchemy system for players who have an interest in potions. Downtime actions are shortened to more easily fit in the context of a school-day. Custom moves based on gathering resources and butchering monsters in the dungeon, as well as a system for using or turning in those resources. Players can use supplements they have access to (Incomplete Adventurer is Choose-your-price) with approval.

How Alex (WaityGhost) creates a safe table
I'll be updating to the X, N, & O method (my preferred tools might be a bit outdated) but sticking with my policy of anything goes as far as expressing these. A player can state them verbally, if they feel comfortable doing so, through a direct message, or by using available safety cards within the roll20. A player may also choose to step away at any time with or without explanation if they feel they need to. I like to run a very collaborative session 0 where players and myself will set our expectations and ground rules and subjects like Lines & Veils will be addressed based on the preferences of the group (some may prefer to keep theirs private, while others may prefer to be open and discuss them - finding something all players are satisfied with will be the goal). We'll also be going over the kinds of content I intend to include in the game, and what that specifically means to the players and their characters, as well as what sort of content the players want to see or not see outside of what I may have already had planned. As a part of character questions and assigning experience, I'll be doing player check-ins and session surveys to get a better sense of what people enjoyed, what they didn't, and as a way to express any emotions lingering over what may have happened. This will also help me set up the next session with the player's highlights and goals in mind. My tables have a zero tolerance policy for any sort of sexual roleplay, explicit or implicit. This includes making unasked for remarks about another player or their character. In addition to this, players who persist in acting in ways that reduce the enjoyment of the game for others when asked to do otherwise will have to find another game. That should about cover it.
