About the adventure

Set within the Forgotten Realms city of Waterdeep. This is the first half of a two-part campaign. Do you like a bit of swashbuckling action and adventure, mysteries, and a bit of city exploration? Famous explorer Volothamp Geddarm is seeking people who can help him find a missing friend. Are you just that brave and capable adventurer? The streets of Waterdeep can be dangerous, and gang wars are about to erupt as everyone goes crazy looking for a missing hoard of dragons... gold coins if you're not familiar.

About me

I am a long-time DM/GM/Storyteller and player since the mid-'90s. I have run a variety of games over the years both tabletop and online from Palladium Fantasy, Rifts, Heroes Unlimited, Word of Darkness with Werewolf the Apocalypse and Changeling the Dreaming, new Chronicles of Darkness for Hunter the Vigil and Changeling the Lost, and of course, D&D with 3.5 and 5th edition, mainly for the Eberron and Forgotten Realms settings and homebrew. I strive for role-playing and have run games that lean more combat-heavy or more RP intensive depending on who's at the table. So far, I have completed 4 Lost Mines of Phandelver adventures, 1 Dragons of Stormwreck Isle, 1 Dragon of Icespire Peak. There are currently 2 full campaigns taking parties to 20th level and a few more closing in on that milestone. I have several games a week I run for.

Character creation

Creating your character

Point Buy for character creation, character sheets will be stored on D&D Beyond where I can "collect" and look them over. Starting characters will be first level. Player's Guide, Fizban's, Sword Coast Adventurer's, Xanathar's, and Tasha's will be used for Character Creation. If there is something outside of that not mentioned such as Hollow One for example, just ask.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Discord with mic and a quiet place where you will have minimal interruptions. If you want a physical copy of your character to print out at home, go for it. If you are using spells out of Xanathar's or Tasha's, remind me so I know where I'm looking,

What Anna brings to the table

I've got the adventure, I have many physical books and I am working to build a digital library to match. We will use the Avrai dice bot in Discord, it does connect with the Beyond die roller. Both can act as a backup to the other if there is ever any server/connection issues for the bot.

Homebrew rules

Homebrew rules are often clarifications and FAQs listed in the Discord channel. We stick to RAW as much as possible to be consistent, but you can always ask.

Safety

How Anna creates a safe table

This is D&D, action-adventure. Bring your sense of adventure and willingness to explore and get into the story. As a DM I don't go for the Player vs DM mentality or players needing to antagonize each other because that's how someone is getting their fun. We are in a fantasy setting as such, I know we come here to escape the real world. But to a point, to make the fantasy have life, we'll do some of the nitty gritty, but not hardcore. I know we get attached to characters, especially the longer they're played, but I'm not going to go out of my way to kill a character, but I do have the many numerous nameless NPCs, antagonists, and monsters to run. I will begin the adventure if I have only one player to start as I find, if you build it, they will come. Don't hesitate to speak up. Life happens.
