Sentinel's Awakening 🔥🤘⛏️⚰️High Level Hell Caper [all welcome]
Rip And Tear - Until You Level Up! Fight on behalf of the last crusade of the Dwarves through Tartarus, the 9 Hells, and the Abyss!
About the adventure
Greek Gods! Incredible violence! Dwarves with Guns! A desperate chase across the underworld! If one of more of these things interests you, this is the adventure for you. Welcome to a roleplay-focused, player driven, infernal adventure. Everyone will be welcome at this table. We'll be starting at level 12 using milestone leveling, and will be running a session 0 to build characters and fit them into the homebrewed world. Speaking of which... 🔥🤘⛏️⚰️ The following is carved into a small stone pyramid, about a foot long on each side. You could've sworn it wasn't there a moment ago. The text is iterated in Ancient Dwarven, old high Draconic, celestial and infernal. "ATTENTION WORTHY MERCENARY "THOU HAST BEEN SELECTED TO AID THE LAST CRUSADE OF THE PEOPLE OF DUERRAN. THY MISSION SHALL BE BOTH SECRET AND PERILOUS. IT CONCERNS THE BLOOD WAR, AND THE WEAPON WITH THE POWER TO END IT. IN THE EVENT OF ITS SUCCESS, THOU SHALT BE REWARDED MOST HANDSOMELY WITH [a word here hotly debated amongst scholars]. IT SHALL TAKE PLACE IN THE WORLDS BELOW, IN BOTH THE KINGDOM OF THE DEAD AND THE BATTLEGROUNDS OF EVIL. ONCE COMPLETE, THOU SHALT BE RETURNÉD TO WHENCE THOU CAME AT THE TIME OF YOUR CHOOSING, BETWIXT THE MOMENT OF THY DEPARTURE AND A YEAR AND A DAY HENCE. IF THOU WOULDST TAKE UP OUR BANNER, DESTROY THIS MESSAGE WITH THE FIRE OF THE ALL-FATHER, AND YOU WILL BE TRANSPORTED. "[Geometric shape that is identifiable as the seal of Akkadis IV, last known king of the Ancient Duergar.]" May Hades have mercy on your quest...

Meet the Game Master
About me
Ahoy! I'm a professional DM and voice actor who's been playing for 11 years and running games for 9. At my table, you'll find games with an emphasis on roleplaying and fun, but that doesn't mean leaving your combat brain at the door either. For a taste of my standard British accent narration, check the Youtube link to my voice reel below. I consider myself a capable teacher of the game, having introduced dozens of new people to it over the years. To facilitate this, every adventure is tailored for the players - before each campaign begins, we'll talk through the kind of story you'd like to tell together, and how that squares with what I've got prepared. I approach D&D as a collaborative storytelling exercise, so while I have an extensive homebrewed world and adventures ready, every player has the chance to dictate the nature of the world they're playing in. As for the world itself, if you like pirates, greek gods, elements of the forgotten realms cosmology, and a tone shooting for somewhere between Tolkien and Pratchett, I'm the Dungeon Master for you!

Creativity
I had an absolute blast playing in this game! The setting was rich and immersive, and the adventure—delving into ancient ruins to discover it's mysteries—was both engaging and full of interesting choices. Our group ultimately decided to destroy the weapon that was found in the ruins rather than risk its power falling into the wrong hands, and the way the DM handled our decisions made the world feel alive and reactive. The pacing, challenges, and storytelling were all fantastic, making for a truly memorable session. I will definitely be playing in this DM’s games again. Highly recommended!
Character creation
Creating your character
The people receiving the mysterious message are figures of power and repute - grand magicians, chosen clerics of the Olympian gods, master thieves, royal champions and world-famous bards could all find themselves involved in this adventure. We'll be starting at Level 12(!), using roll4drop1 stats and milestone leveling. All WOTC official expansions are fine with the following exceptions, almost all for lore reasons: 🔥No Duergar 🤘No Guns and Gunpowder (Artificers are fine if flavoured away from this) 🔥Most reasonable homebrew is fine, but please run it by me first before hinging your entire character on it. We will also be running a session 0 to go further into character creation and help anyone who needs it to get their head around the numbers.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
🔥Before session 0, all you need is a webcam, a mic, and a discord account, and somewhere to create your character - a paper sheet, d&d beyond, up to you. 🤘Before session 1, you'll need a roll20 account, an image for your character token, and some understanding of at least the rules that pertain directly to your character (their race, class and background for example). 🔥Feel free to message me with any questions :)
What Benjamin brings to the table
🔥I encourage in-character roleplaying, player choice, and creative choices. Expect an engaging story that you have a say in - give me a backstory with a couple of colourful characters in it, and they'll more than likely crop up somewhere in the adventure. 🤘I run the game on Discord for speaking and Roll20 for combat. 🔥 I make liberal use of in-character dialogue and encourage players to do the same. I also encourage players to argue their cases for things like unorthodox skill checks, however ask that they respect my final ruling. 🤘I use background music for those who want it, although one of the reasons I run games on discord is that it can be turned down or off individually. I can supply pdfs of all core rulebooks and some snazzy custom character sheets. 🔥 And, finally, I'm a professional voice actor, so expect high-quality narration in terms of both content and sound quality - check my DM profile's Youtube link for some sample narration!

How Benjamin creates a safe table
Session 0 will involve character creation, and a discussion of any triggers players might have for one's own character and the game in general. The game itself will largely be story driven, but that doesn't mean you won't have think tactically and rely on your companions when you do get into combat. Fun is what we're all here for, and sometimes nothing is more fun than a well-applied fireball.
