Embers of the Last War, an Eberron story
The Last War has come to a close--Within its embers, opportunity arises. Come together, prevent further destruction in this world-spanning adventure
About the adventure
Welcome to a world where magic is a science and engineering, where heroes are extraordinary, with monsters wandering among humanoids in the streets, where monsters aren't evil and heroes morally ambiguous. This is the world of Eberron! The Last War has ended. Right now, it is something that is on the minds of every living being in Khorvaire. The Embers of War storyline focuses on you, the heroes, dealing with the affects of the Last War, a continent spanning event similar to the World Wars. You will be traveling around Khorvaire, in pursuit of making sure war doesn't break out once again, as it just ended and anything can happen. This will contain political intrigue, pulp action, creative combat and espionage as you fight to keep the peace in the land of Khorvaire, moving through a prophecy that is interpreted only by the most powerful of beings. What are you waiting for!? Come join me in the world of Eberron as we fight through fellow citizens, monsters and unseen foes. Hope to see you all there!

About me
Have been into the TTRPGs when I was little and took an interest in CRPGs first, like the Baldur's Gate games, Diablo 2, the classics. This then turned into a ongoing on and off hobby and cultivated into my first campaign during 2019 in the midst of a pandemic. I now have been a DM for DnD 5e since then, having played TTRPGs systems now for collectively 10 years. After I saw, even with little material, that I could be a DM, I chased after it for the fun of it and have done this in multiple settings and diverse castings of people, particularly in the world of Eberron and it's Aetherpunk genre. After having so many different groups of people, most of them not even thinking about how it was so uncommon to have the groups of people I pulled in, I had on and off ideas of becoming professional, and now have fully committed to giving this a go, again, with this site helping me. I think what makes me different is the approaches I have to games. I try to involve my players in more of what they see around them. By giving them the broad idea of where they are, I have the players paint the scene for me. These are their senses, for the most part, and it brings people together, knowing it is a shared space. I use my degree in Recreation Management to help facilitate what could be uncomfortable subjects to provide the realism of a scene while still providing outs that the game provides (this includes the safety toolkit from Wizards of the Coast). Finally, I try to be as authentic to myself while developing a story or running a module that is already published. People have a right to be comfortable being themselves, even if it is an NPC temporarily. I hope that you and your friends contact me for this amazing service and for a genuine experience you will never forget. This is my first time, so I will be doing what I can with what I got. Online or in person is on the table.

Character creation
Creating your character
Character creation will happen during Session 0. Stats can be either rolled, point buy, or standard array, depending on your comfortabilty and how new you are. Your starting level will be at level 1 and will be created on Roll20 or in person depending on the clientele. We will be focusing on the new 5.5 rules and so I would ask you would refrain from using the 2014 rules for DnD/
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Bring a paper and pencil, your character sheet (filled out or not), you should make an account on Roll20 (don't worry, I will be sharing my material so you don't have to buy anything), webcam and mic (if doing online gameplay). If you want to read rules ahead of time, that is always a plus, but depending on the years of experience in the group, we can learn as we go or preemptively go over the rules. If you have a DnDBeyond account, there is a extension called Beyond20 that will move your rolls over to the Roll20 server, if you want to avoid any hassle on your end.
What Justin brings to the table

How Justin creates a safe table
I will provide a link or document to the Lines and Veils document. In Session 0, we will talk to each other about what roles we want to play, establish rules and boundaries, learn more about each other and our characters, and possibly have time for the prologue of this event. I do a lot of the aftercare by asking first how people felt about the session that day, as I want to hear everyone's individual response on how it went, is there anything that needs to be changed etc., so that I can get a feel for people's play styles and how to make them feel more comfortable being themselves and their character. Stars and Wishes will also be done at this time. X, N, and O's will be digital through Roll20, as it is provided to us as a base package. If people want, they can print out cards and show them to me via a screen if video chat is available. If you prefer messages for privacy, then I understand that completely. For the Luxton technique, I tend to take breaks in the middle of the session anyways, to give people to stretch, so this would be the opportunity to bring anything up, or if it is something that needs to be addressed now, then we can take a quick break then, and move back to the game. I will always have an open door policy available to step away from the game, I only ask you tell me what your character would be doing during that time period and if it is combat, have someone role for you. This will make it so that we can keep the game moving along.
