About the adventure
🌿🍺 This is a cannabis and alcohol friendly game. 🌞🌚 We enjoy a lighthearted atmosphere with some darker moments. 📜🪶 Homebrew friendly with approval/adjustments as needed. 💖🌟 Zero tolerance for bullying, harassment, or bigotry. The vast and dangerous Astral Sea beckons you to freedom! Out here you'll need all of your strength, cunning, and some raw luck to survive. The only ones you can trust are yourself and your crew - a coterie of spacefaring scallywags with an unbreakable bond. Join the crew of the Whimbrel for an interstellar treasure hunt! We've travelled to Clown Space, battled a fleet of fancy Hippos in the clouds above Jupiter, and watched the Blood War spill out across Earth. And there are still plenty more adventures ahead of us. It's not possible to guarantee the length of a campaign, but we are well on track to go all the way to level 20 and we would love to have a new crewmember join us for the final chapters. The game is weekly and skipped sessions are rare. When we do need to take time off I give as much notice as possible. Sessions run 2.5-3 hours. This could be the perfect campaign for you if: - You've played D&D at lower levels, but your games always end before you get to the really good stuff. - You have a crazy character idea that you want to try in an 'anything goes' kind of setting. - You're an insomniac who would rather play D&D than watch infomercials or scroll social media all night. Creating your character
TLDR version: Character Sheets on DnDBeyond.com. Tokens, maps, etc on Roll20.net. Point Buy stats, average HP, standard equipment plus one Rare, two Uncommon, and 2000 GP. No Evil, no traitors. 💬I am happy to meet with you in private for a "mini session zero" to discuss expectations, rules, safety, etc. It's very important that everyone feels comfortable at my table. You may create your character before your first session or wait until after you've met the group if you prefer. Check DnD Beyond or Discord for the current party level. Spelljammer is a setting that allows for some very creative character concepts. You could be a classic Wizard from Faerun 🧙♂️, a modern human from Earth 👨💼, or even an interdimensional traveller 🚀. Consider who your character is, where they come from, and why they are setting out to the Stars. It's not about length, sometimes the best backstories are very short. It's about giving your character an identity. 🤝It's very important that we maintain a fun, cooperative atmosphere for this campaign. No Evil characters and no traitors. We're a loyal crew and we expect the same from everyone! You will build your character at https://www.dndbeyond.com/ - once you have joined the game you'll have access to my library. If you prefer to use Roll20's character sheet, you may, but you will have to bring your own books. Use either Point Buy or Standard Array for abilities. Average HP. Standard Starting Equipment plus one Rare Magic Item, two Uncommon Magic Items, and 2000 GP to spend on mundane gear. This can include standard healing potions for 50GP each. You may use any official, published D&D material. Unearthed Arcana, 3rd party material or homebrew require approval. This group is very friendly to approving them.
Level 17 as of August 11, 2025 🙉Captain Katagri, Hadozee, Swarm Ranger, Ascendant Dragon Monk, Wildfire Druid, Forge Cleric: Katagri became Captain of the Whimbrel's crew when the last captain met an unceremonious end at the hands of some a Giff Warlord. Now she leads the crew on adventures while trying to accept her own past. ⚙️Nacri, Faerie, Artillerist Artificer, Bladesinger Wizard, Genie Warlock: a Faerie from the plane of Thelanis, connected to the world of Eberron. Nacri uses her assortment of magic and gadgets to turn the tide in battle. 🦗Pik Nik, Thri-kreen, Mutant Bloodhunter, Arcane Trickster Rogue, Barbarian: After his clutch of eggs was destroyed by an alien weapons test, Pik Nik was raised by Astral Elves. When the difference in their lifespans became too much, he set out on the Astral 🎸Metalhead, Changeling, Valor Bard: A 1980's glam rock icon, unfortunately born 100 years too late. Metalhead excels at beguiling the enemy and supporting allies. 🌈Skittles, Eladrin Twilight Cleric: A wonderer that seems to appear out of nowhere when the time is right. This mysterious figure has yet to reveal his true intentions. 🐈⬛TrialDania, Tabaxi, Shadow Monk: The newest addition to the crew, TrialDania seeks information about the disease that took their brother's life.

💪My Strengths: - Over 30 years experience gaming with every kind of group. - Reliable long-term games: Over 90% of my campaigns finish as scheduled. Cancelled sessions are very rare. - Flexibility and Communication so we can work together to tell a great story. - Tactical combat: I understand the rules but do not let them bog us down. - Storytelling: Sometimes the 'Rule of Cool' is how legends are made. ⚠️My Limitations: - I am not a voice actor, especially when it comes to accents. With this in mind, I work to make interactions memorable in other ways. - I can be forgetful. I keep notes to help alleviate this. I also give incentives to players who choose to help recap and take notes. You'll have access to a private Discord server with dedicated game channels and open channels to chat with other players. We will use maps and tokens via Roll20 to simulate the experience of playing around a table with friends. I will share all D&D sourcebooks via dndbeyond.com. I enhance the atmosphere with ambient music as well as image, audio, and video handouts. I do use AI to produce some of these, and they are clearly labeled as such.
