Yarhar of Cthulhu |Play by Post| Pulp CoC High seas surrealness
Blackbeard, Bluebeard, bah! More beards than you can shake a stick at. It's a big ocean out there, what manner of beard be yee sailing it?
About the adventure
"Gather round me hearties and sit for a spell, we got a long sail ahead of us and I'd just as soon know who I'm sailin' with. You look like a diverse lot of people, I bet you've seen some things haven't you? Your eyes tell me so, but I'd still like to hear your lips confirm it." ---- Yo ho, yo ho, a pirates life for me, looking for a bit of high seas adventure with a dash of mind bending Mythos on the side? Perhaps you'd like to be a merchant who's recently come into possession of a strange artifact, or a cabin boy with dreams of being a captain? I offer bespoke, one on one and group based adventures focused on your character as the star. With each player my goal is to work together to create a story which is fun, engaging, and impactful to the gameworld on a whole. I enjoy working with beginners to the system or system games in general, and strive to maintain solid communication above table at all times to be sure everyone's enjoying their experience. LGBTQIA+ and Neurodivergent folks heartily welcomed. $15 a week requested with the assurance that I will match your rate of posting to the best of my ability, with a guarantee of at least one post a day if I've got a reply to work with. However I offer sliding scale pricing down to free for those with a story in their hearts but wallets empty as I believe that money shouldn't get in the way of a story burning to be told.

About me
𝒮𝒾𝓃𝒸𝑒 𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇𝑒 𝒽𝒶𝓈 𝒷𝑒𝑒𝓃 𝓁𝒶𝓃𝑔𝓊𝒶𝑔𝑒, 𝒽𝓊𝓂𝒶𝓃𝓈 𝒽𝒶𝓋𝑒 𝓉𝑜𝓁𝒹 𝓈𝓉𝑜𝓇𝒾𝑒𝓈. Aspirational, cautionary, horrific, wondrous, sweet, funny, and tragic. Stories are a balm to sooth in hard times, a plan for growth, and a chance to reflect. A hobby nearly as old as humanity itself, sitting around fires and spinning yarn with good company. This is the tradition I seek to embody. Greetings seeker, thank you for seeing me. You may be asking yourself, "With so many options available on this lovely website, why should you decide to sit at my table? What sets this person apart?" To that I say I do not wish to be set apart. I want to sit with you, and find out the story your heart yearns to sing. I want to help explore something new, I would very much like to show you why I love collaborative storytelling. If you're new, I want to show you what this beautiful hobby has to offer, and if you're a veteran storyteller and already know? Then I want to see what we can make applying our skills together. I'm a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, and I'm fond of the many things that make everyone unique human beings, and I will strive to create a safe and fun environment to explore the stories we tell together. Finally, I'm more than happy to work with beginners to any system I'm familiar with to help you learn the game. For the more experienced player, I love the act of exploring oneself through characters, and I would be happy to create the space for said exploration. So wanderer, if you're curious, feel free to direct message me with any questions you might have, I am always glad to make new friends!

Players say this GM is great at:

Storytelling
Creativity
I have been lucky enough to be a player in Liz’s games for over ten years. She has a comprehensive knowledge of many types of game systems, including Pathfinder, D&D 5e and the Apocalypse system to name but a few. Liz’s creativity really knows no bounds - she has created whole worlds for us to play in and pushed the envelope of what I thought would be possible in a TTRPG game. You’ll never struggle to find a story in one of her games and she knows how to keep storylines flowing seamlessly even if you’re unsure yourself. Liz is very approachable, open-minded and inclusive as a GM and I trust her implicitly to guide our stories in a fun and enjoyable direction.
I have played in Elizabeth's games multiple times over the years and have found them very enjoyable. These games often had 8+ players and she was still able to craft an individual experience for each player and each character. Elizabeth is a very role-play centric DM and the rule of cool reigns supreme. 10/10, would play again.
Liz is a terrific GM. Expect sessions that encourage creative problem solving in character. She is great for players who are beginners as well as experienced players (even for some of each in the same game). Surmount unique challenges as a team with plenty of opportunities to shine individually as well. Liz uses her voice, music, and maps to set the scene and mood, and give flavor to NPCs. This made it a lot easier for me to bounce off her energy and get into character. Maybe you have something you want to work on/through IRL using role play/DND/GURPS? She is the perfect GM for that. She is also experienced with working with players who have trauma, are diverse in various ways, like gender diverse and neurodiverse. Liz is WELL VERSED in how the rules work for DND and GURPS and is happy to help others understand. She also respects the Rule of Cool. If I could only ever have one GM in the future for some reason, it'd be Liz.
Weird has always been a joy playing games with for many years. She extremely flexible, able to handle nearly anything thrown at her with such grace that you would believe she had it planned the entire time. Her ideas are inventive, focused on deep character connections between each other and the larger story, making sure that every player has a chance in the spotlight. In addition, she has the knowledge of systems to build interesting and challenging encounters.
Character creation
Creating your character
I have several per-generated characters befitting the setting to choose from if desired, but otherwise will work with each player to find out what sort of character they would like to play and then design an exciting, dangerous, and spooky adventure based on what the sort of tale desired. I use https://www.dholeshouse.org/Characters/CoCv7Investigators/Pulp/StepOne for character generation as it provides a nice PDF at the end of the process and makes the process nice and smooth when generating a new character. All info will be kept on the discord.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
All you need is a Discord account and a way to post on it. Reading the rules will be beneficial to you, but I am willing to guide any portions of the experience you're unfamiliar with, and explain any rules as they come along if you're more of a hands on learner.
What Weird Wanderings brings to the table
I will bring the books required to learn the systems we will be using (Mostly Pulp Cthulhu), my brain which generates the aforementioned bespoke stories, and the discord space we will use for writing together. You'll bring your imagination, creativity, and communication skills, (some dollars if you can spare them) and we'll share some fun stories.
Homebrew rules
Full Homebrew rules on discord. In short, some skills are tweaked according to the era in which the character is played, and experience is modified for play by post. I am open to homebrew traits/spells/artifacts according to whatever story we're looking to tell.

How Weird Wanderings creates a safe table
I use lines and veils to establish what the boundaries of horror we want to explore are, and maintain an open door policy encouraging communication, especially in the case of discomfort over plot elements. While I want to provide a thrilling and spooky experience, player comfort and enjoyment are paramount and my ultimate goal, and I will use all tools at my disposal in that pursuit.
