Menace Under Otari: Learn to play Pathfinder 2e on Foundry VTT!
About the adventure
๐ฒ Have a great time learning to play Pathfinder 2e with the Beginner Box on Foundry Virtual Tabletop! ๐งโโ๏ธ๐งYour party was hired by Tamily Tanderveil, the owner of the local fish market, to figure out why large quantities of fish are disappearing from her storeroom. A hole smashed in the wall of the storeroom cellar reveals a dark and forgotten passageway beneath the town. You are needed to brave the depths, protect the town, and figure out what's going on down there. ๐ Menace Under Otari, a.k.a. the Pathfinder 2e Beginner Box, is a fun little dungeon-crawl that is designed to teach you Pathfinder 2e as you play. It also comes with pre-made characters so as soon as you connect to the virtual tabletop, you are good to go! The dungeon can be completed in 3 to 5 sessions, it will take your characters from levels 1 to 2, and can be quite challenging. Why Pathfinder 2e? Pathfinder is known for its great tactical combat and deep character customization. It is known to be crunchy (kind of complex), but the Beginner Box is a great way learn as you play and decide if you want to take the plunge with the PF2e system. What is Foundry Virtual Tabletop and why play on it? Foundry VTT is widely regarded as the premiere virtual tabletop and has famously good Pathfinder 2e integration. It'll take care of your character sheets and automate a bunch of the rules, making the game much easier and faster to play. The Beginner Box module also has great maps, token artwork and music, so it's a nice, immersive experience. It's pretty deluxe. ๐

About me
I've been GMing TTRPGs on-and-off since grade school. My early D&D obsession was formative: it gave me a love of reading, drawing, and getting up to imaginary shenanigans with friends. I also teach kids how to play D&D (Shadowdark) at a local library. I'm always upping my GM game, whether that's improving my PF2e rules knowledge, getting better at Foundry VTT, working on art for my games, or tweaking adventures so the scenarios react and make sense for my players. These days, I'm deep into publishing my first adventure for Pathfinder 2e on Foundry VTT. It's a post-apocalyptic fantasy/sci-fi adventure in a homebrew setting. As a bonus, my SPG players can try it out first with me for free, if they're into it! I play Rules as Written, but PF2e is so robust you can pretty much try anything. I will fully engage with your creativity, and I promise to do everything I can to keep you engaged and on your toes!

Players say this GM is great at:
Teacher
Sets the Mood
Storytelling
Jesse knows his stuff and if he doesn't he won't lie to you about. If you are just learning a system, he's a good DM to go with! In between being a good teacher, he's pretty good at telling a story around everything. If you have a character with a background, he will do his best to weave it into the story.
Character creation
Creating your character
The adventure comes with a balanced selection of strong premade characters which you can choose during Session 0. We will start at level one. You are also free to create your own on pathbuilder2e.com, if you like. If you want to create your own character, please limit yourself to the remastered rules, and only take options from the Player Core and Player Core 2 books.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need: 1. A computer. 3. A good sound setup. You'll need a microphone and a quiet place where you can play, so that you can focus on the game and not disturb the other players. 2. A free Forge account to join the virtual tabletop. It's super easy to set up. I'll provide a link after we touch base. You can learn the rules as we play. I encourage players to read the Pathfinder 2e Player Core book to learn the rules, but isn't necessary for this adventure.
What Jesse the GM brings to the table
I will provide: 1. Foundry VTT (virtual tabletop) with high quality integrated video on the VTT. No need to tab between windows! 2. The PF2e Beginner Box module, which includes premade characters, beautiful maps, tokens, music and ambient sounds. 3. The ability to import characters from pathbuilder2e.com, for those that want to make their own characters. 4. A thorough knowledge of the Pathfinder 2e rules relevant to this this adventure. 5. I role-play NPCs and monsters to the best of my ability. 6. A friendly, fun, engaged, and immersive atmosphere at the table. The adventure is a classic and straightforward dungeon crawl. Combat will be tactical and intense. I run dungeons as lived-in environments. If your party makes a lot of noise, something dwelling nearby might come to investigate. Your party can (and should!) also use the dynamic environment to your advantage. I encourage improvisation.

Safety
How Jesse the GM creates a safe table
In Session Zero, we'll start by getting our tech set up and get to know each other a bit as you choose their characters. You are also free to make your own character, if you wish. If anyone has any special needs, concerns, or phobias, you can let me know at this time. At the end of each session, we will review with Stars and Wishes. This means that people can say what they enjoyed (stars), and express what they would like to see (wishes).
