About the adventure

The roads of Aereth have never been kind to those who travel alone. They wind through ancient forests and forgotten battlefields, past ruined watchtowers and villages whose names have outlived the kingdoms that built them. Yet across those roads, beneath the fading light of autumn, a handful of travelers make their separate journeys. Some follow the old trade routes, where merchants and pilgrims share the company of strangers. Others take quieter paths, where the trees grow close and the sound of their own footsteps seems an unwelcome intrusion. Each carries the burdens of the road, memories of what has passed, and questions that have yet to find answers. Far to the north, the waters of White Tip Lake lie cold beneath the shadow of the Ferahn Forest. Along its shores stands the little town of Blessings-Be, where fishermen mend their nets, pilgrims seek lodging, and the bells of Honorus have called the faithful to prayer for generations. Beyond the town, hidden among the wooded hills, lies the Mourning Cave. There, the legendary Arden Brightheart made his final stand against a creature that served one of the darkest sorcerers ever to walk the world. For centuries, pilgrims have come to kneel before the paladin's resting place and gaze upon the terrible remains of the enemy he defeated. But something has changed in Blessings-Be. The bells ring more frequently now, and travelers carry strange stories away from the lake. They speak of answered prayers, of wonders witnessed in the shrine, and of a holy warrior returned from the embrace of death. The faithful call it a miracle. The priests struggle to explain it. And in the taverns, where men speak more freely after dark, there are those who remember older tales—of a sorcerer named Albrecht Skullshank, of a war fought beneath unfamiliar stars, and of a dead thing that once claimed to know what tomorrow would bring. For now, the travelers know little of these matters. Miles still separate them, and the roads ahead promise the ordinary hardships of a long journey. Somewhere beyond the trees, an evening fire is being lit. Somewhere a ferryman is preparing his last crossing, and an innkeeper is setting another place at the table. And high above them all, the first stars emerge into the gathering darkness, taking their appointed places in a heavens that have not forgotten what happened long ago. Chapter 3 of a campaign begins here...you can play this as a one shot, or you can stay in the entire campaign. A holy site turned mystery. A legend turned lie. A confrontation where faith, truth… and fate itself may be broken. Fast-paced exploration, deadly encounters, and strange magic, this campaign is a wild ride from the first encounter to a final desperate stand against enemy forces. As YOUR story unfolds, investigate abandoned ruins, uncover long-buried secrets, and confront hidden threats.

About me

You bring the characters. I'll bring the world. Together, we'll make it ours. I run living worlds where your choices matter. Bring me your character. I'll give you a world worth exploring—and then we'll discover together what happens when you start changing it. My games are story-rich, player-driven, and built around meaningful choices. NPCs remember what you've done. Decisions have consequences. Character backgrounds become part of the campaign. Stories develop in directions neither the players nor I necessarily expected when we started. With nearly 600 games hosted on StartPlaying and decades of tabletop RPG experience, I've guided adventurers through everything from sprawling campaigns to deadly one-night adventures. I welcome seasoned veterans and first-time players alike. I love sandbox campaigns, dangerous old-school adventures, mysteries, horror, exploration, and the occasional glorious dungeon crawl. My gaming library spans Dungeons & Dragons, Dungeon Crawl Classics, Mutant Crawl Classics, Call of Cthulhu, Traveller, Top Secret, Shadowdark, Dolmenwood, Mörk Borg, CY_BORG, Pirate Borg, and plenty more. But the system isn't the most important part. The players are. You bring the characters. I'll bring the world. Then we make it ours.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will all create characters together at our session zero, we will make sure we all know what each other would like to play and build a rounded party together. Pre-Made Characters are available.

The current party

While adventuring in new lands, the heroes come upon a ruined keep with and intactand very strange wizard’s tower protected by an impenetrable force field. Even though the tower sits amidst the ruins of a keep destroyed long ago, the tower itself is perfectly preserved. The force field that surrounds it has kept it from harm for generations. Travelers who have ventured close report that the ghost of the wizard still haunts the tower, but it is trapped behind the force field. Unable to escape, it taunts those who come near, lamenting its eternal imprisonment. The wizard’s name is lost to time, but it is said he was skilled in the art of force magic, and his tower still holds the trove of wondrous magic he accumulated during his lifetime. This is Chapter 4.5 of an ongoing adventure! Join and play the chapter; or, join the campaign and see it through to the conclusion at 13th level! The party currently has an Eladrin Sorceror, Gnome cleric, and a human Paladin. Join with whatever you'd like to play.
