Curse of Strahd in the Big City - Modern Fantasy Gothic Horror
Vampires, undead, and eldritch horrors, OH MY!
About the adventure
Power shifts in the city of Fournemouth. The deep web of high society moves in delicate and cunning silence. Nobles, Lords and Lady's, Business tyrants, and everything in between all move quickly to keep hold of whatever part of the city they control and taking more every chance they get. But when High Lord Griffin calls for a meeting with all the most powerful individuals in the city, several orders are passed down to adventurers for high-priced and well rewarded "bodyguards". Tension within the city grows as the final few strings before total rebellion begin to be tugged. Join this spin on the classic module. Set in a custom city filled with cunning villians, seedy theives, and hidden monsters. It will be an adventure filled with danger and intrigue, where alliances shift as swiftly as shadows and every choice could tip the scales of power. As you navigate the treacherous underbelly of Fournemouth, you'll encounter a cast of morally ambiguous characters, each with their own agendas and secrets. You'll be tasked with not only protecting your clients but also uncovering hidden plots that could reshape the city's future. Are you ready to step into the heart of a city on the brink of chaos and emerge with more than just your life?

Proficiencies
Players say this GM is great at:
Storytelling
World Builder
Creativity
I love Neemster, I've known him a long time and he's always been consistently great at storytelling. He features quite a lot of personal growth and stories for each player character and puts a lot of care into how players interact with the world. He doesn't really railroad much, more content to offer choices for us and let us deal with the consequences. Going with this is player feedback which he is very good at gauging and adjusting with. Above all, he's a comfy person to be around and interact with. My groups have a lot of fun hanging around and being silly but the story remains in-depth and serious, despite our occasional derailments.
This DM is supportive of players freedom and creativity, yet also sets good boundaries to keep things from going too far. They're the kind of dm who can guide a story while allowing players to dictate and even override the story with their actions. The perfect blend of storyteller, tour guide, and good aid, with amazing visuals and music to set the mood just right.
We've been playing for way over a year now and the two things that have kept me as interersted in the game as I am now are the world and the freedom we to try in things both in and out of combat. Even after about a year and a half there are still so many questions we have about the world and so many additional/optional things to discover and that's probably the biggest thing for me personally. Also the amount of freedom with combat and other encounters is probably the reason why I've stayed this interested with a character type + class combo that I don't normally enjoy too much, from previous experiences. Music's cool too, don't know what else to say : ^ )
I've been part of Neemster's world and in this campaign for over a year, and it's probably one of the most fun experiences I've had in D&D. It something I look forward to, and it really feels like my character has developed as time has gone on throughout the campaign. There have been a few times when I've almost had to drop due to my schedule, but thankfully Neemster is willing to work with you and reschedule the game if it's possible for as many people as possible. It's always a good time playing in his game ^^
Character creation
Creating your character
Players will need to have a standard level 3 character prepared before session 1, discussion of which will be had at session 0. Stats can one of these three arrays. -The Specialist: 17 / 12 / 12 / 11 / 10 / 10 -The Mad Man: 15 / 15 / 14 / 11 / 11 /10 -The Razzle Dazzle: 13 / 13 / 13 / 13 / 13 / 13 All standard books are acceptable, but please confirm with me before going with any homebrew. Character sheets can be kept on DND beyond, in pdf form, or directly in the foundry campaign as long as I have a copy.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Before joining a session, make sure your microphone is working and is connected to discord. A webcam can be used but is not required. Make sure your character sheet is complete before session 1. No need to have a complete character for session 0 but do have some ideas in mind. Please join my discord when you're ready to join https://discord.gg/Qqm4HC4jgD
What Neemster brings to the table
We will be playing out of the Foundry virtual table-top. I build all of my campaigns on custom maps I make myself. Characters can be stored in any fashion that you desire, as long as I have a copy, and you are comfortable rolling in the text chat or through macros of your character sheet. During the game I prefer to have my camera on to emote more with the characters I'm playing, but no players are required to be on camera as long as you have a working microphone. I utilize discord music player to set the mood with ambient and battle music, and have sound effects to add a little flair to you and your enemies actions. My style leans to the role-play side of things, I want you and your characters to grow and have immersive experiences. So while rules are written to be followed, I will always side with roleplay over ruleplay. Everyone's "Fun" at the table comes before anything else.
