About the adventure
Deep beneath the surface of the world lies the Underdark, a realm of endless labyrinthine tunnels and caverns where the sun never shines. The Underdark is filled with races and creatures too numerous to count or list, and foremost among these are the dark elves — the drow. Hated and feared even by their fellow dwellers in darkness, the drow raid other settlements in the Underdark as well as the surface world, taking prisoners back with them. Rendered unconscious with drow poison, then collared and shackled, these prisoners are eventually sold as slaves or entertainment in the dark elves’ subterranean cities. You have had the misfortune of falling to such a fate. Whether you came into the Underdark seeking knowledge or fortune, or were just in the wrong place at the wrong time, you were captured by the drow and are a now a prisoner at one of the dark elves’ outposts, awaiting transportation to Menzoberranzan, the City of Spiders. As luck would have it, you are not alone. You must work with your fellow prisoners to find a way to escape the outpost and find your way back to the surface. The Underdark is neither a safe nor forgiving place but with good planning, stalwart companions, and a bit of luck, you'll see the sun shine on you once more... if the darkness doesn't eat you first!

About me
Hi there! I’m Cody, also known as Pax, a professional Game Master based in San Antonio, Texas. I’ve been playing and running tabletop RPGs for over twenty years, starting back in 2nd edition, spending plenty of time in 3.5, and now primarily running 5th edition. I first got into 5e through Adventurers League, running weekly public games for five years straight with tables of seven or more players. That experience taught me a ton about managing large groups, keeping sessions engaging, and helping both new and veteran players feel like part of the story. Over the past couple of years, I’ve transitioned into running private campaigns full-time, completing six full campaigns and building a wonderful, supportive community along the way. I have a deep love for taking established modules and tweaking them to create smoother gameplay, give characters more meaningful connections to the story, and expand on the content to make the narrative feel dynamic and impactful. If you’re looking for a reliable GM with a strong understanding of the rules, experience handling large groups, and a passion for teaching new players, you’re in the right place.

Creating your character
Characters will begin at level 3 and will be made during session 0. If you'd like to make a character before the session, you're more than welcome to. You may roll for stats, using rules listed in the discord server, or use either point buy or the standard array. All official books are allowed, but only the most recent printing of a race, class, etc. Characters receive a bonus feat at level 1 as part of their background, unless the background awards a feat or additional spells already. If you have any questions or need help, I'll be available through discord prior to the session.

What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need to have a Discord account, a D&D Beyond account, and a working microphone. If you'd like to use a webcam you're more than welcome to, but it is not required. Your character must be complete before the session starts.
What Pax brings to the table
I will be bringing my DND Beyond library, custom maps, encounters, and handouts. I am no voice actor, but I do my best to give NPCs unique voices and mannerisms.
