Thursday D&D | Dragon of Icespire Peak Level 3

Thursday D&D | Dragon of Icespire Peak Level 3

Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign

About the adventure

⚔️ Classic D&D | ⚔️ Great for beginners | ⚔️ There be dragons... Hail! I'm really pleased to be running this classic D&D Adventure for 1st level characters through to around 5th level. Don't miss your chance for fame and fortune! This adventure really suits my style - light hearted antics with higher and higher stakes and an overarching story to tie everything together. Maybe that would suit you too? Based on the official D&D module "Dragon of Icespire Peak". This campaign is full of quests, exploration and combat. This is one of my very favourite campaigns to run and every party takes it in directions I wasn't expecting. I'd love to see where you want to take it. Here's the gist: the outpost village of Phandalin faces a twin threat. Sightings of a white dragon have rattled the town-master. So far it hasn't ventured down from the hills but it's only a matter of time. Meanwhile a large band of orcs, driven from their homes and allied with devotees of an evil Storm God are on the march looking for a new place to live and leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. It's not all bad though... adventurers looking to make their fortunes and reputations will find there's plenty of work to do. Will you be one of them? This is the module included in the D&D Essentials Set - very suitable for beginners to D&D but a great classic 'it starts in a tavern' adventure for everyone. I expect it to run 15-18 sessions or so but most groups I've run want to take their characters beyond it and I'm very happy to do that.

Aion is a great gm. His games are laid back and fun. He knows the rules but let's players create fun moments. If you enjoy role-playing, laughs, and all around good time Aion is your guy. Excellent GM for new beginners as well.

Just finished week 5 and can't recommend Aion enough - great set-up and atmosphere. He really knows the rules and how to help newbies navigate them without getting bogged-down. Really enjoys creativity from players and is happy to reward that. Fabulous fun.

I’ve been playing in a campaign for a few months now and have found Aion to be a capable, thoughtful, and relaxed DM, capably rolling with whatever shenanigans we get up to and always making sure everyone is involved and enjoying themselves.

Ben was a phenomenal DM - he really worked with what each player wanted from the session to enable us to have a great time. Soooo much fun! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend him for any type of session, I think he could run anything competently.

Gameplay details

I will brief everyone of the safety tools we use before the campaign and before every session, I post a list of lines and veils that are active that session. We'll use D&D Beyond for character sheets, Discord for voice chat and Owlbear Rodeo for maps and combat. I set up campaign specific channels in discord so that you can discuss and roleplay in Discord between the fortnightly sessions. Video's completely optional. After every session, we'll perform a quick review and suggest any changes for the next time to ensure we all have a great experience and can steer how I run the campaign. We'll have a 10-15 minute break somewhere in the middle but it's a-ok if anyone needs to step away briefly for any reason.

How will character creation work

So that we have as much game time as possible, I'd like players to set up characters on D&D Beyond before the first session. I can help with character ideas or provide pre-generated characters if needed. Please use point buy for your abilities - it saves on awkward conversations about cheating! If you're new to D&D, I would advise you to stick to options in the Player's Handbook, especially at level 1. If you have a burning desire to play something from another rulebook, we can talk about that and I'll do my best to accommodate. I will create a campaign on D&D Beyond and I'll send a link so that you can add your characters to it.
