About the adventure

⚔️ Classic D&D | ⚔️ Great for beginners | ⚔️ There be dragons... Hail! I'm really pleased to be running this classic D&D Adventure for 1st level characters through to around 5th level. Don't miss your chance for fame and fortune! This adventure really suits my style - light hearted antics with higher and higher stakes and an overarching story to tie everything together. Maybe that would suit you too? Based on the official D&D module "Dragon of Icespire Peak". This campaign is full of quests, exploration and combat. This is one of my very favourite campaigns to run and every party takes it in directions I wasn't expecting. I'd love to see where you want to take it. Here's the gist: the outpost village of Phandalin faces a twin threat. Sightings of a white dragon have rattled the town-master. So far it hasn't ventured down from the hills but it's only a matter of time. Meanwhile a large band of orcs, driven from their homes and allied with devotees of an evil Storm God are on the march looking for a new place to live and leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. It's not all bad though... adventurers looking to make their fortunes and reputations will find there's plenty of work to do. Will you be one of them? This is the module included in the D&D Essentials Set - very suitable for beginners to D&D but a great classic 'it starts in a tavern' adventure for everyone. I expect it to run 15-18 sessions or so but most groups I've run want to take their characters beyond it and I'm very happy to do that.

About me

Hello. I'm Aion and you should join one of my games today if you like what you see here. You'll enjoy being at my table if you enjoy: 🙋 being a collaborative team-player 🧝 a fun and light-hearted game with serious stakes 🧙 campaigns that build and characters that grow 🧑🏿‍🤝‍🧑🏻 making new friends 🧭 classic open-world D&D adventures What I offer: 🗝️ years of experience GMing online and in real life. 🧙 a GM you can count on. I take the game seriously and turn up on time and ready for anything you can throw at me 🏔️ a simple, no-cost, no download setup 👐 an inclusive and safe table I'm a GM who: 🔭 puts the players first 🙋 loves helping beginners get started 🦸 has deep personal connection to the good D&D can do 🤞 brings real-life experience of neurodivergence and queer identity Some of the things my reviewers have said: ⭐ "A capable, thoughful and relaxed GM rolling with whatever shenanigans we get up to and always making sure everyone is involved and enjoying themselves." ⭐ "Fantastic GM ready to roll with the punches and very adaptive to the playstyle of the players." ⭐ "A phenomenal DM - he really worked with what each player wanted from the session to enable us to have a great time. Soooo much fun! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend him for any type of session" ⭐ "He really knows the rules and how to help newbies navigate them without getting bogged-down. Really enjoys creativity from players and is happy to reward that." 🤞If this sounds like your kind of thing, join one of my games today - I promise if you do, we'll tell a heroic, unforgettable story together! --- On a personal note, I've found playing and running D&D has had amazing benefits for me. It's been a distraction from other things in my life, a way to keep a social life alive, a welcome escape into another character and another world. One more thing: if you're at a place in life where you can't afford to pay for sessions or you can't commit to a campaign because of cost, it's ok. I've been there. Just let me know and I'll gladly make your session free or arrange for you to skip payment for a few sessions to get back on track. No questions asked. --- Please check with me before making your character. I will usually review character sheets and help you make changes to fit in with the campaign. I generally say no to evil characters, or races and classes from other worlds than the adventure setting. It's just really hard to pull off a character whose goals are at odds with the rest of the party. There will be no player vs player violence or stealing from the party members. Thanks for reading this far. I hope you'll join one of my games!

Character creation

Creating your character

So that we have as much game time as possible, I'd like players to set up characters on D&D Beyond before the first session. I can help with character ideas or provide pre-generated characters if needed. Please use point buy for your abilities - it saves on awkward conversations about cheating! If you're new to D&D, I would advise you to stick to options in the Player's Handbook, especially at level 1. If you have a burning desire to play something from another rulebook, we can talk about that and I'll do my best to accommodate. I will create a campaign on D&D Beyond and I'll send a link so that you can add your characters to it.

The current party

Fortnightly Thursday evenings UK time. We're a few sessions in - everyone's at level 3. It's a great time to join, even for beginners. Current Party: --------------- Kithrana Goldburrow - Halfling Swashbuckler Rogue Leyorien Ytsejam - Dragonborn Totem Warrior Barbarian Damzor - Tiefling Hexblade Warlock

Safety

How Aion creates a safe table

I will brief everyone of the safety tools we use before the campaign and before every session, I post a list of lines and veils that are active that session. We'll use D&D Beyond for character sheets, Discord for voice chat and Owlbear Rodeo for maps and combat. I set up campaign specific channels in discord so that you can discuss and roleplay in Discord between the fortnightly sessions. Video's completely optional. After every session, we'll perform a quick review and suggest any changes for the next time to ensure we all have a great experience and can steer how I run the campaign. We'll have a 10-15 minute break somewhere in the middle but it's a-ok if anyone needs to step away briefly for any reason.
