About the adventure

This one has it all! Explore dinosaur-filled cities, ancient ruins, monster-packed jungles, and horror-strewn dungeons. I tend to make significant changes to my campaigns, so even if you've played this before it will be a whole new game! There is no "death curse" and the BBEG has been completely changed, so you'll have plenty of time to wander and learn what makes this place tick. Join a faction! Make enemies of other factions! Plunder old tombs! Makes enemies plundering old tombs! Embroil in city politics or avoid urban drama and dive into the wilds! This game can cater to any party's chosen style.

About me

I got into D&D back in the olden days when the game was young and after all this time I'm still not bored with it! Playing is fun but I find DMing more rewarding as I love to create new places, scenarios, and characters, and to cook up original plots and adventures. I love to make maps and guide players through them, but I also appreciate theater of the mind when maps can be too limiting. I love teaching new people to play, so feel free to message me if you are too intimidated to join a group. Solo games are always an option!

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will be created before the game at Session 0, during a convenient time for you. I ask that all characters have a backstory that will tie into the campaign, and as such I have a list of possible hooks to pull your character into the story. Characters should be made using the standard array or the point-buy system. I currently have no limitation on character races or classes. I prefer players use D&D Beyond for their characters (with the Beyond 20 browser extension) but you can also make one directly in Foundry.

The current party

The campaign is currently level 5, so roll up a character and join us! Don't worry about joining late - we have barely begun to scratch the surface of this place and the mysteries abound. Chult is a super dangerous land with undead and dinosaurs running amok, but I like to balance terrifying encounters with more lighthearted scenarios, fun NPCs, and unexpected situations. If you want gritty realism, this is not the campaign for you, but if you're looking to escape into a land of mystery, monsters, and treasure with a fun group, you've come to the right place!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a working microphone, a free Foundry/The Forge account, a Discord account, and (optionally) a free D&D Beyond account. There will be a list of general rules on the Discord channel provided when you first sign up for the game. If you are a beginner, feel free to ask any questions you like and I will take extra time to walk you through anything you need.

What dysonrules brings to the table

The game will be on Foundry VTT for maps, tokens, handouts, etc. Voice and chat will be handled through Discord. No video needed. I tend to load up characters with magic items and then scramble to stay ahead of them. The rule of cool will always win in my book, so if you're a stickler for rules as written, this might not be the game for you. I love roleplay, interesting NPCs, solving mysteries, and exploration over simple hack n' slash, although there will be plenty of combat. All of my rolls are visible, so no fudging here.

Homebrew rules

Drinking a potion is a bonus action, administering a potion to another is an action. If you use an action to drink a potion, you will receive the maximum benefit with no rolling needed. Death saves should be rolled in private to the DM. Flanking gives you +2 to your melee attack roll.

Safety

How dysonrules creates a safe table

We will go over rules, safety, likes, dislikes, lines and veils, etc. during Session 0. Please let me know up front if there is anything you would prefer not to see in the game. Content warnings include things that "could" be in the game, not necessarily things that "will" be.
