About the adventure

▕▔▔▔▔▔▔▿▔▔▔▔▔▔▏ "Cruisin' on past Toril, you're relaxed and feeling good. Next thing that you know you're seein' illithid in the nieghorhood?! Surfin' on th'Astral Plane, then you're swingin' through some stars... Oh $#@$ wait, are those Beholders riding in a Tyrant Ship?!" ▕▁▁▁▁▁▁▵▁▁▁▁▁▁▏ ╭╼|══════════|╾╮ Welcome to the exciting universe of Spelljammer! We are currently at the 7th level in the midst of exploring the core 'Light of Xaryxis' campaign (currently second-ish chapter) with some revisions to the core storyline for pacing as well as a deeper exploration into the Rock of Bral and Wildspace in general. Toril faces certain oblivion, and while adventurers on the surface fight nobly to buy time - Mirt has dispatched his Covert Class, graduates of his Spelljammer Academy as well as agents drafted on during tours of Wildspace, to investigate the cause of this vile plague and find a way to bring it to an end! Are you brave enough, creative enough, and noble enough to take to the very heavens and right the wrongs of the very Cosmos? Experience the world of 5th Edition like never before: • Serve on your own Spelljamming ship: as a Crewperson, you can man turrets, board enemy ships, or use magic to defend your teammates! • Traverse Wildspace and the Astral Sea! • Explore new dynamics like atmospheres and gravity as you traverse the very Multiverse! No realm is truly out of reach, and new dimensions lay hidden, yet to be explored! • Discover new races, new cultures, new technologies, and even magic! Come explore a fantastical universe and a deep plot to destroy it all! ╰╼|══════════|╾╯

About me

I didn't find tabletop RPGs until later in life, I knew about them and was always intrigued - I just never had the access. But I always enjoyed telling stories, and my imagination would always run rampant - something likely attributed to my mental health. I was diagnosed early on with generalized anxiety and depression, which only further limited my access to tables and the enjoyment of the game. Decades later into my late thirties, after going through college for mental health and addictions and challenging some of my fears and misconceptions (most expensive therapy ever!), YouTube channels like Acquisitions Incorporated, C-Team, and Dimension 20 inspired me. I found a local game that fit my schedule and immediately fell in love with the medium, and after a few years I took my turn as a host and that love boiled over into a passion. I started hosting online for friends using Roll20, but my constant pursuit for increased visuals, operation, and overall production brought me to FoundryVTT. I love that I can combine my focus on research and narrative development with the stunning automation provided by the platform, and my players always seem delighted (or terrified) by the scenes I've put forward. Similarly, I've always found my delight in developing rich stories with those players, coordinating events and backstories to give them a voice in the world and build it into their playground. I have never had to shout "I'm not crying, you're crying" so many times.

Character creation

Creating your character

This is a player-centric game following the overlying story arc of the new "Light of Xaryxis" plotline, with a heavy emphasis on exploration (both on Bral and space abroad!) Currently, the party is still in the early stages of the adventure, exploring Bral in its splendor! I can assist you on discord with making your character and working out how to integrate your character into the current storyline. You will have access to my DNDBeyond account to make your character prior to importing to Foundry VTT. This account has all the WotC character content unlocked, so feel free to go wild! The current character level is 6! If you want a sneak peek at where we're at, here's a current log of our adventure! https://spelljammeracademy.obsidianportal.com/adventure-log

The current party

This is a recurring game typically taking place on Saturdays. Currently, our heroes are level 7 and running amuck in Wild Space!

Safety

How 8BitRonin creates a safe table

I try to keep things fairly simple, but utilize regular breaks (usually every hour depending on mood), and appreciate if players need to step away from the table. Similarly, I can provide a core list of Lines and Veils, but please feel free to identify to me any concerns/lines/veils you would like to enforce. My only goal is to make sure you have the opportunity to enjoy the game. I will provide a link to a general code of conduct prior to the game, and make myself available for aftercare or debriefing - I try to have a general open-door policy.
