If there’s one thing Dungeons & Dragons players want, it's high-level adventures. That level 20 chaos, that kill a god stuff. Well it just so happens that Wizards of the Coast is finally answering the call with Vecna: Eve of Ruin. This campaign sees Vecna the archlich weaving a ritual to remake the multiverse in his own twisted image. Players must traverse many worlds and power up from level 10-20 to gather seven parts of a weapon strong enough to take Vecna down. That’s right: no level 1, no fighting goblins and bandits. Unlike beginner DnD, Vecna: Eve of Ruin gets right to the good parts.
In Eve of Ruin, Vecna and his multiversal scheme will rope in many classic DnD foes. There’s already some amazing Vecna: Eve of Ruin art previews out there as part of the marketing. (The Vecna: Eve of Ruin leaks also reveal some juicy plot details for the impatient.) This gives it big Avengers: Endgame vibes by revisiting iconic conflicts before getting to the reality-shaking boss battle. If your group is looking for a way to bring back old characters or cap off a years-long campaign, this could be it.
The Vecna: Eve of Ruin release date is May 21, 2024. However, those who preorder the Vecna: Eve of Ruin special edition Physical + Digital bundle get early access starting May 7.. Many StartPlaying Dungeon Masters preordered and have been preparing their own spin on the adventure! Some are adding prequel content to make it a longer campaign or changing the setting into something more unconventional.
