Cypher System is a great RPG that's simple to learn, with a solid amount of crunch, but is incredibly fast and narrative during play. It's somewhere between D&D/PF and rules light systems as far as the amount of rules goes, but the vast majority of the books are dedicated to the various genres you can use it for and character creation. As far as I'm concerned, it has one, if not the, best character creation system, with incredibly flexibility to build the character you have in mind. To my mind, Cypher is the ultimate genre-less RPG system. I've run sci-fi, fantasy, space opera, weird west, etc. and all have felt great! And that's without touching any of the "official" settings, which are well written and really fun. For anyone looking for a highly flexible "rules-medium" system with narrative punch and deep character creation, Cypher sits at the top of my list of TTRPGs.

I'm lucky enough to play in one of Nikki's campaigns and after a few sessions a few things really stand out that I wanted to share! - I've laughed until it's hurt on multiple occasions. - Nikki's storytelling is highly energetic and incredibly flexible. - Roleplaying with her NPCs is an incredible amount of fun! She drops into character and brings them alive. - Nikki uses the environment, NPCs, and GM prompts to draw players into their characters and then lets them play in that space. - I've rarely seen a table of strangers come together quicker than with Nikki at the helm. She's a fantastic teacher, creates an awesome, safe space, and has a great sense of humour. It really pulls everyone in. - One of the best GM's I've ever had (in 30 years of playing) for encouraging and incorporating player backstory, decisions, and descriptions into the campaign in really logical, personal ways that enhance the minute-to-minute storytelling as well as the overall story. - This might be a bad expectation to set, but Nikki ran for our table through having a broken arm! Yay painkillers, and thank you Nikki! I look forward to each session as a major highlight of my week. The amount of fun we're having in both dramatic and light hearted moments is just incredible.
