I fell in love with DnD while reading monster manuals and species guides as a child without understanding the game it let my imagination have full control. As an adult it was one of the first things I gravitated to after leaving home. It became a family unit, the bond in character gave me comfort not all battles were meant to be alone. I enjoy the limitless creativity, the ever changing games and expanse of the multiverse draws me in so I’ll never leave. Also it’s fun to smash things but the ability to do the impossible is what I love the most.

I played once and WILL play again! I love how you can use so many more skills than 5e. The oneshots easily go into what could be next for you and your character. I love the use of losing your sanity!!!

Looking for HIGH Roleplay and Whimsy. This is it! Play in the Carnival for hours and all your decisions impact your adventure. This incorporates a lot of NPCs, a lot of fun loot and trinkets, and different playstyles all wrapped in a feywild ribbon. I have really enjoyed running this and foresee it taking much more sessions than described as it can be so immersive and fun!

I have found this to be Low Roleplay and High Combat. It is definitely more SURVIVAL gameplay; we've been crushed more times than I can count. Its story line is interesting but not much time to explore it further when you're running for your lives.

So far this is my favorite campaign I've played in my 12 years as a player. I loved so much about it. The grueling Jungle trek, the odd locations and locals. You need a good party to make your trek more amusing rather than mechanical. Loved the varying play incorporated: Puzzles, mystery, survival, adventure, combat...

“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

“Combat Heavy” games emphasize the combat mechanics within their systems over roleplay or puzzle solving. There are frequent and longer battles with enemies and a greater emphasis on tactical game play.

“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

Play By Post refers to a game in which players interact with the story through messages and text posts. These games are typically played asynchronously throughout the week, which gives players time to consider what they want to do next, and engage with the story at their own pace.

In "Sandbox" or "Open World" games, players are given a tremendous amount of freedom to pursue their stories without the restrictions of a more linear game style. Players are encouraged to explore and engage with the world, and find their own story as they do so. These games offer the players the opportunity to help drive the narrative, and allow for the story to evolve organically through the choices they make.

“Realm Building” games focus on the development, expansion, and management of something bigger than a single party, where the characters may find themselves in charge of a kingdom, faction, settlement, or organization. Over the course of gameplay, players might manage resources, make decisions that shape nations, or even guide large-scale conflicts as part of the ongoing story.
