About me

So I'm actually a professional magician and comedy hypnotist but started my Forever DM career at the age of 13 and, after a hiatus from playing TTRPGs to start playing guitar in punk rock bands and riding skateboards, I got back into the role of running games for the teenager whom I mentor as part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program back in 2017. Then, with lots of time on my hands and a little extra Federal Funded spending cash in my pocket during the global pandemic, I began to hone my Dungeon Master skills by enrolling in voice acting and improv classes online. What that means is that when you book a campaign or one shot with me, you can count on being thoroughly entertained with unique and distinct NPCs as well as creative banter, absurd humor and wild adventure. I am a huge fan of shows like Critical Role, Dimension20, Rude Tales of Magic and super fond of all the other fun and zany actual plays out there and even started my very own production called Dungeons and Doobies a few years ago where a bunch of my friends get totally baked at my dining room table while I try to murder them with handfuls of dice. You can totally check it out on Spotify or whatever your favorite podcast streaming platform happens to be! Now I'm bringing the ridiculous homebrew world I created for that very same 420-friendly campaign to StartPlaying.games so I can keep the "high" fantasy exploits going which means I am super excited to pack a bowl and rip some fatties with you while we enjoy some epic escapades together!!!

Nick is by far the best DM I've hired since I started using StartPlaying.games. Always happy to work with players to allow them to be creative and still manages to make some incredibly challenging encounters. And his ability to create some of the most imaginative world settings that happen to be quite familiar is sensational. The NPC interaction is super fun and his improvisation skills make it fun to roleplay! Five out of Five Stars easily!

Fun fun fun! John has a great approach to the game. He's clearly been doing it for a long time but one of the very first things I noticed is that he is not stuck in his ways and happily embraces newer systems and - more importantly - an evolving culture for gamers. His demeanor is incredibly warm and the game itself was extremely well planned while still giving us (the players) plenty of freedom to approach the quest in our own way and find our own solutions to the puzzles and problems posed to us during the adventure. His portrayal of NPCs and monsters made for an amazingly immersive experience as well. I can still hear the guttural screams from the nasty baddies that chased us away in my mind as I think back on the session. He was incredibly patient too and I have no doubt that beginners and experienced players will thoroughly enjoy his DMing style. I truly wish my schedule was freed up enough to run an entire campaign with him. Hope to see him and his colorful cast of characters in the realms again soon for another one shot in the near future!
