This was a great "above the table" experience, explaining a lot of how character creation and game mechanics worked.... something that a lot of other learn-to-play sessions don't cover as well. It ended with a small combat experience that let us put to work what we'd learned.

I had never experienced Hero's Quest before but was able to jump right in. DM did a great job of narrating the fights and tailoring the combat to our group's needs.

Great narration and visuals. Did a good job making sure everybody got their chance to contribute.

Had a great time playing. Learned several new things that other beginner games didn't touch on. His descriptions were above and beyond... very vivid descriptions that really set the scene.

He was very patient and descriptive, great for new players. Set and managed expectations well. Being a little shy, I was concerned about the role playing aspect but he eased us into that part gently and by the end of the session I was completely comfortable. I would absolutely recommend giving him a try.
