Really enjoying Pepe's campaign. Combat is well balanced and exciting and he also takes an interest in the characters and how their story can come out in the game. Easy to approach and talk to outside of the game too. Would highly recommend.

You are signing up for a Westmarch style guild based on Discord. If you like doing one-shots with the same character over and over again this might be for you. There are some really nice DMs and people in the guild. There are also some people who are not. Games get posted and people typically rush to fill the spots. This quickly gets annoying because it can happen anytime in a three hour window. Currently it's clear they have too many players and not enough DMs (although still advertising for more players all the time). Unfortunately the paperwork you have to do after every game and each week is monotonous and soul-destroying. Whoever came up with this system is an expert in making things far more complicated than they need to be and must be getting something out of giving everyone pointless jobs to do. They have a huge rulebook on World Anvil which is not kept up to date very well. You will follow the instructions on there and then get corrected in Discord constantly. I was there a month and only had one game with Wolf as DM but his game was atrocious. Whereas a normal one-shot will be three decent fights, he made us wander aimlessly through a desert for three hours trying to see how many levels of exhaustion he could give us before a single brief fight at the end. And it seemed like we were just killing native peoples not anyone bad or deserving of death. One of the weirdest one-shots I've ever played. It was like the DM was trying to be the edgelord. I never signed up for a second game with him. Toward the end of my month there I began to see the mild pay-to-play element creeping in in terms of buying ('gifting') D&D materials to the guild. You get extra perks and your name in lights for doing so. The system of loot is also very individualistic. There's no community spirit. If you role high you take the good loot and sell it no matter if you can't use it or no matter if someone in the party could have used it. A very typically western, me-first-to-hell-with-everyone-else approach to loot. You will also not be allowed to play certain subclasses which have been deemed too powerful so investigate that one quickly if you like being a twilight cleric or a cavalier fighter.

Only a couple of games into the campaign but really enjoying it. Punky's clearly done a lot of work setting this campaign up and has been helpful in getting to know how to use Roll20.
