When I'm not running games I'm...

Probably climbing trees, as I do that for a living! You can also find me writing, cooking or chasing my cats around the house.

How Pepe runs games

I am a roleplayer, with an optimizer vein. I want my players to feel comfortable to engage with the story we try to tell and have fun while doing so. I do prefer high stakes quick combat than lengthy crunchy ones. I'm not good with character voices, but I love people trying! We're here to have fun, and that is my bottom line.

My favorite trope is...

The grizzly bearded mentor wizard. I love a good Gandalf figure to send the characters into an adventure!

Rules are...

...meant to be broken! No, really, I am a Rulings over Rules type of DM, and lean heavily into the Rule of Cool. I rather have fun than follow the rules to the T.

When it comes to voices

I have the deep voice for, the evil voice and the old cranny one. They all sound the very, very similar, and I can't help it. I would also pay absurd amounts of money to get an Irish or Scottish accent, but alas...

Pepe's ideal table

I've played and run in all kind of tables: with kids, with adults, with beginners, with optimisers, at high levels... you name it. Now, if I have to choose, my table will be full of people that want to tell a story together and have fun rolling dice. Doing voices, combat oriented builds and encyclopaedic knowledge of the rules are all tools that can help, but neither are the sole focus or my table!

I think it's a red flag when players...

When players don't want to talk about their character build ahead of the session. Both as DM and player I like to be able to give and receive feedback on my character, and create a party together so we can have more fun... together! If you're hiding something, it's broken, egotistical or both.

I think min/maxing...

Can be lots of fun! But I like when characters are flawed. You want to dump INT with your Barbarian! I love it! Let's lean into that!
