About me

Hey there, I’m Theblackrook. I’m a newer TTRPG player who came into the hobby through a lifelong love of fantasy storytelling, worldbuilding, RPGs, and character-driven narratives. I care a lot about collaborative storytelling, meaningful choices, immersion, and party chemistry. I’m the kind of player who gets invested in the world, the people in it, and the relationships between characters. I enjoy: • Character-driven roleplay • Serious or grounded campaigns with emotional weight • Meaningful player agency and choices that impact the world • Collaborative storytelling over “spectator” storytelling • Creative problem solving • Campfire moments, party bonding, and growing dynamics between PCs • Worldbuilding, lore, politics, religion, and cultures that feel lived in • Tactical combat when it serves the story and stakes As a player, I tend to build characters with strong motivations, layered personalities, and clear goals. I enjoy playing characters who feel like real people shaped by the world around them rather than joke characters or meme builds. What helps me thrive at a table: • GMs who communicate clearly and directly • Collaborative storytelling where player decisions matter • Patience for newer players learning systems and table flow • Groups that are welcoming and willing to engage with one another in-character • A balance between challenge and player agency • Tables where players feel like protagonists in a shared story, not passengers in a prewritten narrative I’m not really looking for: • Heavy adversarial GMing • Excessive railroading • Meme-focused campaigns • Tables dominated by inside jokes or clique energy • Games where player creativity is consistently shut down • “Gotcha” style gameplay I’m very open to feedback, collaboration, and improving as a player. I care about table chemistry and making sure everyone gets moments to shine. I may still be relatively new to tabletop gaming, but I’m enthusiastic, engaged, imaginative, and genuinely invested in creating memorable stories together. If your table values immersion, roleplay, character growth, and collaborative storytelling, we’ll probably get along great.

Tomas B is an excellent storyteller and great a setting an atmosphere. I think he is one hell of a GM. I was honestly and truly impressed by his abilities. I cannot not say enough about the actual talent he has as a GM and despite my personal experience, which I would like to be clear, my negative experience has NOTHING to do with his abilities as a GM, I do recommend this GM. However, due to his conflict resolution strategy, which was frankly cold, impersonal, and uninformative I cannot rate him higher than this. After my first session he decided, within his rights, I was not a fit. When I asked why and requested some information as a new player so I could look to improve, he said; 'My apologies sir but I simply do not feel comfortable going into details, and as I prize your time I would hate to waste it.' Polite, but uninformative for a supposed Teacher/educator, especially for a new player. Nor did I appreciate being booted so quickly in an attempt to save a negative review.

Playing under Soutalgon has been a genuinely entertaining experience. He’s excellent at keeping everyone involved, making sure each player gets meaningful moments without forcing us down any particular path. I really appreciate his attention to detail and the way he allows the story to progress organically, never punishing us for missing the “intended” direction, and always adapting gracefully to our choices. His narration paints scenes vividly, and while I personally like to add more narration during combat, that’s a matter of my own style rather than anything lacking in his. My wife and I have been having a great time; the game is fun, immersive, and consistently engaging. One of the things I value most is how welcoming and supportive the table feels. He fosters an environment where everyone is respected, comfortable, and encouraged to enjoy themselves. Outside of sessions, he’s also extremely easy to talk to, whether it’s questions, concerns, or small issues, he handles them respectfully and with real consideration. Overall, I highly recommend Soutalgon. It’s been a fantastic experience so far, and we’re excited to continue the adventure.
