Played alongside Leland in a 2-year long campaign as a player, which showed he was a talented player and knew the game inside and out. After the campaign ended, our DM wanted to step back into a player role, and the group stayed on, only with Leland stepping up to assume the DM's chair. We are more than a year into the 'new' campaign with Leland at the helm, and he's proved to be a really great DM. Yes, he has encyclopedic knowledge of the game, but he knows when to let the Rule of Cool prevail. He's taken great pains to weave the intricate backstories of all of the characters into the overarching campaign, which is really fun and provides an extra level of depth to the motivations of why everyone is here fighting monsters and trying to save the city. I think he'd be great for those learning the game as well as those that have played for years.
