The first online game I ever played was with Ellis, and I am so glad that it was at his table that I got introduced to the world of VTT! I’ve been part of two long-form campaigns for the last seven months (and two oneshots in that time) and it’s been an absolute blast. Ellis welcomes creativity (and chaos), and is able to weave the whimsy into the story in a way that ends up making perfect sense. He’s always communicative when something changes with regards to schedule, and is equally understanding if something comes up with your own availability. The “den” that Ellis and Megan have created is truly an inviting and welcoming community, and I would highly recommend it for any players new to SPG and online D&D.

As someone who was brand new to PbP when I joined a campaign with James, it can be daunting to learn a new medium (especially if you’re joining a group of people who already know what they’re doing!). James is an incredibly helpful and supportive DM, and continues to be so since the very beginning! Whether it’s learning PbP mechanics or building out your characters story, James is ready to help his players at whichever level they come in at. Getting to play and interact with so many fleshed out NPCs is an absolute delight, and while we love to cause absolute havoc and chaos he is fantastic about respecting player boundaries/limits/ and checking in as you go. An absolutely fantastic DM, through and through.

Playing a oneshot created by Oscar was an absolute blast! It was a great low-stakes opportunity to practice more character management items (ie, keeping track of coins, purchasing things in-world and having it connect back to your character in later actions). Great mix of story building/slice of life roleplay (hanging at the tavern, shopping, exploring the area) and following the narrative/going to combat. Oscar was especially adept at pushing the party forward when we may have started to lag (without making it obvious), and managing the different player-types at the session (which is a feat in itself when you have six vastly different participants!). Excellent communication pre-game, too, with a safety tools form & direct messaging to clarify any concerns. Homebrew rules & modifications were clearly outlined ahead of time, too. Following Oscar to hopefully grab a seat at another game of his in the future!
