About me
Played D&D in the late 1970s through to about 1990. With work and family, I shifted to Table top games mostly historical. In the last decade, focused on the newer generation of boardgames and continue to paint miniatures whether Zombicide or War of the Roses. Now retired, I keep finding interest in adventure party/dungeon crawl games and keep having that thought of whether the magic and fun of gaming is possible. Those GMs with the "Teacher/Educator" tags seems like a welcome fit. It has been a couple of decades so I am going to need to relearn!

Lawful Cherry provides a wonderful story to develop that is driven by the characters playing. He knows how to allow the banter and comradery to grow with the players and uses a calm voice to present the players with the situation without tipping off the right or wrong way to proceed. That is great when you have a full party especially as some of us were newbies and others had experience with the rules. Happily played in an extended one-off and if/when Cherry does a campaign, I would be all to thrilled to play again (and the fellow gamers were awesome - the combination just makes a great time where you can forget about the annoyance of a day and, instead, explore and investigate the hold underground. Recommended A+!
Greg is a fantastic DM who is excellent at teaching the rules, ensuring that the player is fully informed of their decision(s) and clearly knows the rules. He is very organized, is full of creativity and allows the player(s) to interact with each other and the NPCs as desired. If you are a first time player, or like me, returning after many decades to RPGs, sign up for one of Greg V.'s games and start gaming with a great gent who will get your gaming confidence up (or back).
Carl is highly flexible and capable of making the game/campaign flow when the players make impromptu decisions that cause utter chaos! This is an art and not a learned skill for a DM. Equally, Carl pays attention to detail that the character says they are doing. He catches when a player overs conflicting direction to a NPC. That is superb when a group of four players in two (at one point three) locations are doing different activities and taking on story elements that are not readily connected. More than one DM would get flustered, forget where they are at, or lose focus and flub the story and suspense. This is entertainment where you can forget everyday challenges and limitations, have an absolute blast with great players (our group is very fond of each other after only six sessions) and you ponder the game for days afterwards (in the most positive way). And, it is soooo goood that you can actually be a wee bit tired afterwards, well, at least if your an older gamer. Well done. Highest Recommendation! Feel free to contact me at anytime should you want to discuss any gaming details.
First game of 5E and played a one-off DM'd by Tanner. A new gamer can have a bit of nerves and uncertain about doing something wrong or not thoughtful. If you have any of these types of concerns, I strongly recommend signing up with Tanner. He is excellent with being patient, giving hints for an action you, as a new player, likely forgot. The effort he has gone through to design maps, play areas, and the setting is exceptional. It has been decades, but having been a DM in the past, I know just how much work that takes and it was appreciated! He is very good with the combat setting, not too slow (analysis paralysis with players) but not so fast that one who is new gets flustered and forgets what can be done. He does very well with voice work and was easily able to adjust to unique moments that we players had (inspirational moment even!). The three "tag" system below does not do him justice. I would have checked all of them and added "teacher". He is gifted with explaining rules, options, and he has that talent to make changes that suit the mood and "rule of cool" when it just made the most sense. Impressive DM and I will joining a campaign as soon as he has one available. Highest Recommendation A+++. Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions as I will be happy to answer.
James is a patient and excellent teacher. He was able to steer me through the new technology that is online gaming, character creation and game rules. His ability to explain the rules was top notch and his initial scenario allowed my character to make choices without being forced into a specific path. Character interaction with NPCs was great, the uncertainty created over the motives was fun and the combat was very smooth. His style is easy going and patient. This was my first with Shadowdark and I'm itching to join his multiple session or campaign in the future. If you want to start this game, let James teach you Shadowdark. Folks can get nervous about not understanding the games or having too many decisions. He has the right mix! If you are nervous about learning, he is the right person for you! Very glad I signed up and survived - which is always a good game - LOL!
