As a fresh neonate to the world of Vampire: The Masquerade, and World of Darkness as a whole, I've really enjoyed the sessions with Sawyer! He's really made me feel welcome to the game, and doesn't make me feel unintelligent, or like an annoyance. My sessions with Sawyer have been really fun, and I don't feel like a burden for the things I don't know yet, or for the questions I ask. He knows the rules and explains them well, in ways that are easy for a beginner to understand. The world building is amazing too, as he uses visual aids that he posts in the Discord to give us an idea of how people, places, or things look, along with the overall mood of the scenes. Sawyer will post local news reports in the server, crafting the illusion of a moving, living, breathing environment. He even has a relationship map for all the SPCs in the "Chronicle", I believe they're called, giving us great references to come back to for information on whom is who to whomever. I also enjoy the relationships that Sawyer will spark for a player character between SPCs, giving the player an opportunity for connections with the world. Whether you take the opportunity or not is completely up to the player obviously, but I just really love how he gives that initial provocation for relationships. I've REALLY enjoyed playing with Sawyer as my Storyteller or "ST", as I've learned they're called, and I'm excited to continue. I felt real tension and fear for my character during some moments in my session today, and I love it. I didn't want to experience being coddled because I'm new to the game, but I also didn't want the ST to want my head on a pike at every moment, just praying on my downfall! I think Sawyer is that happy medium, and I'm relieved for it. I think Sawyer's a GREAT Storyteller and well worth the $20 a session, and as a man without the responsibility of having kids, I find it affordable.
