I paid to join an observation session where I watched the rest of the players rather than participating, but I haven’t heard from the DM since. The onboarding process appears to be largely automated and the Discord has been virtually inactive between sessions. At the moment it feels less like joining an active game and more like occupying a paid seat on the roster. It has now been a week and I still don’t have a character sheet, even though the next session is approaching quickly. Communication has been minimal and there hasn’t been much guidance for new players joining the game. The DM also lists very limited availability for answering questions (short time windows a few days per week), which already makes communication difficult. Despite those listed hours, I have not received any communication since the observation session ended.
Forever DM took a system with 35 years of lore and a core book thats about as poorly organised as can be, and made not just an approachable game, but a table I spend the rest of my week looking forward to. Funny, engaging and made a point of stating unequivocable support and acceptance for the people at the table. Everything youd want out of a DM.
I enjoyed Moonlits approache to collaborative storytelling in Daggerheart. They’ve created a setting with plenty of room for players to weave in their own backstories and shape the world as the campaign develops, which the group has really embraced. The game has been very character-focused and emotionally driven, with a strong emphasis on roleplay and relationships between PCs. Players who enjoy slower-burn, social storytelling and exploring character dynamics will likely find a lot to connect with here.
