Hello Everyone! Cody here, Forever DM and 1/2 of the Podcasting Duo of DM-IN-LAW. I have been playing TTRPG games since I was a kid, before I knew about DND or really any other traditional game I was making my own. My Dad bought me the 3.5 core books and that is what truly launched my love into this hobby. What makes me unique is that I am a forever DM, I almost never player a PC and the majority of my players are brand new players. I love teaching the game and sharing my insights. DND will always be my first love and entryway into TTRPG but I have expanded and now playing games like VtM (Vampire the Masquerade), Cyberpunk Red, Arkham Horror

I became a GM because

when I first got into Dungeon and Dragons in 2004, I was just a 13 and I fell in love with the world building and letting my imagination come to life. I had always dabbled when I was young making my own RPGS and board games, therefore the creative aspect of being a Dungeon Master came naturally.

How The Forever DM runs games

My GM style is a combination or role play, puzzle solving and also combat. I like to ensure that all style of players get a chance to shine. I enjoy mixing it up and mixing systems like a combat taking place on the back of a manticore high up in the sky, or having players defend their actions to their Baron in vampire. I try to build a game that I think would be cool and growing up on anime and cartoons I like to try and incorporate the big WOW moments. What really hooked me into being a DM is having players come up with amazing solutions or creative ideas to solve a problem. I am assure you now, if its cool and makes sense I will allow it.

The Forever DM's ideal table

My table is a combination of light hearted fun and also serious story moments. I am the first to crack a joke and laugh at my own world when something slips through the cracks. I love playing with newer players and watching them come to life as they slowly get to engage and become more confident in the TTRPG space. If you are someone who wants an engaging story but isn't afraid to laugh at your own shenanigans then you will fit right in!
