About The Forever DM
Hello everyone! I'm Cody, otherwise known as the Forever DM. I've been playing tabletop RPGs for over 22 years. Long before I discovered Dungeons & Dragons or any other traditional RPGs, I was creating my own games and adventures. Everything changed when my dad bought me the core rulebooks for Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition. That gift sparked a lifelong passion for storytelling, worldbuilding, and tabletop gaming. What makes me a little unique is that I'm truly a Forever DM. I rarely get the chance to play a character myself, spending most of my time behind the screen creating memorable adventures for others. Over the years, I've introduced countless new players to the hobby and genuinely love teaching the game, helping people learn the rules, and watching them discover what makes TTRPGs so special. While D&D will always be my first love and gateway into the hobby, I've expanded into other fantastic systems as well, including Vampire: The Masquerade, Cyberpunk RED, and Arkham Horror. If you're looking for a fun, inclusive, and welcoming space where creativity, roleplay, and memorable stories come first, I'd be happy to be your guide on your next TTRPG adventure!

I became a GM because
when I first got into Dungeon and Dragons in 2004, I was just a 13 and I fell in love with the world building and letting my imagination come to life. I had always dabbled when I was young making my own RPGS and board games, therefore the creative aspect of being a Dungeon Master came naturally.
How The Forever DM runs games
My GM style blends roleplay, puzzle-solving, and combat. I aim to make sure every type of player has a chance to shine. I enjoy mixing things up—whether that’s staging a battle on the back of a manticore high in the sky, or having players defend their actions before their Baron in Vampire. I like to build games that I think are exciting and memorable. Growing up on anime and cartoons, I’m drawn to those big “wow” moments and try to bring that same energy into my sessions. What really hooked me on being a DM is seeing players come up with creative solutions and unexpected ideas. I’ll say this up front: if it’s cool and it makes sense, I’ll allow it.

I deal with rules issues by...
taking a few moments to see if we can find a clear ruling - whether through a core rule book or a quick google search. If the action or issue if not to detrimental to the game we will use the current understanding and move forward, once we find the correct ruling we will apply it accordingly.
My games focus on...
making my players feel central to the story and as cool as possible, I want my world to feel alive but also change and adapt to how my players interact with it.
The Forever DM's ideal table
My table is a combination of light hearted fun and also serious story moments. I am the first to crack a joke and laugh at my own world when something slips through the cracks. I love playing with newer players and watching them come to life as they slowly get to engage and become more confident in the TTRPG space. If you are someone who wants an engaging story but isn't afraid to laugh at your own shenanigans then you will fit right in!

I love it when a player
does something even I wasn't expecting, those moments are what I live for as a GM.
I think metagaming...
has its place at a table, It depends on context, sometimes for big moments I might even pull back the veil and share a big bads HP pool, a good table has a healthy mix of metagaming and living in the moment.
My table is not the place for...
people who just want to run combat simulations, Combat is fun but good roleplay makes a fight feel even more epic!
