Great session, pulled the group together really well for a tales from the loop one shot and made sure everyone got a chance to participate and share the spotlight. Would definitely join again for another game. Really did a good job of setting the scene and making the world feel alive to interact with.
Very flexible DM who told a great story. Wasn't adversarial like some can be DMs and instead got excited along with the party when we did something unexpected or cool. Everyone was having a great time and did a great job introducing a full party of people who had never played Vaessen before to the game.
Great host/dm who manages to make the Strahd campaign feel deadly without making players afraid of trying things. Many DMs either go so overboard that players start avoiding any potential risk or they go so easy that the players feel invincible and the horror elements fall flat, but J strikes the perfect balance so we try things and get to either succeed in a blaze of glory or face the consequences of what we did. So far my character has lost an eye that has since been replaced by a brass genie vessel, and a hand, and it has made the character so much more fun to play. He knows the rules really well so he makes use of a lot of rules that other dms either overlook or ignore to both help the players and give us some tough choices to make but it's all very smooth. Runs a great campaign, would recommend.
I look forward to the frostmaiden campaign every week. Rollin does a great job of bringing the world to life without relying only on combat. Rollin works with our group's silly ideas to talk our way out of combat, throws in other sorts of events/encounters along the way, and does a great job adjusting to how the group wants to play. In just one week we narrowly avoided a blind dragon, tried to convince some goblins they won the lottery, had a shrub-pulling contest with some goliaths and even found time for some combat. The VTT setup is the smoothest of the games I've played, and new players are integrated easily and brought up to speed quickly. Would strongly recommend.
A great DM. I decided last minute to join the campaign that was already a few sessions in and he helped me get up and running and integrated with the story seamlessly. So far I would say that the most stand-out thing is how he makes the world feel alive. Encounters in particular have been run great, creatures are neither perfect strategists nor completely mindless zombies who just stand and trade blows. They behave reasonably, some fight to the last breath, some try to escape before dying, some run when they see their buddies dying, others might peel off and try to flank you. It's a pretty freeform game he runs, with enough use of maps to help make sense of encounters and locations, without over-relying on integrations/automations so it leaves room for the DM and Players to come up with things on the fly. Look forward to the next session each week.
