Ran has amazing storytelling skills and wove a cohesive, intense, and dramatic oneshot of Bluebeard's Bride for our group. Even though none of us had played before, it was a very emotionally resonant and satisfying oneshot. Ran was able to explore sensitive topics like childbirth, gendered oppression, and coercive relationship dynamics while keeping everyone at the table safe. We were given tons of opportunities to roleplay and were able to create an incredible and chilling story for our Bride. I would highly recommend Ran and would definitely play with her again.
Johnnie ran a learn to play oneshot for Blades in the Dark for me and two other players. It was a fun, atmospheric, and spooky time and he was able to teach players the rules very thoroughly. He also genuinely cared about player safety and inclusivity at the table and made sure to go over safety tools before the game began. Although we had never met before, we were able to do a good mixture of investigation, roleplaying, and combat throughout the oneshot, which I really enjoyed.
The DM ran a fun, quick oneshot for me as a solo player. Even though I was using a premade, we were able to roleplay a bit of backstory for my character and her brother (played as an NPC). I had fun and the investigating portion was tense, interesting, and atmospheric. The DM moved efficiently through the storyline and it was an enjoyable and fast-paced ride!
Tonight's VTMB oneshot with Adam was fun. I'm basically a newbie except for the video game and he encouraged the players to interact (and even have in-character conflicts). He richly drew out the setting of VTMB while also patiently explaining the different rules and aspects of the game throughout. I learned a lot while playing and now feel more comfortable understanding the rules in my future VTMB games.
Sylas GMed an introductory oneshot for DnD 5e (The Delian Tomb). This was my first experience with DnD 5e and I had a wonderful time! I was the only player in our session. Sylas was very helpful and walked me through not only 5e mechanics but also the basics of using roll20 and helped me set up a bard character. During the game, Sylas kept the story moving effectively and especially during the fight scenes, created a tense and exciting atmosphere. He was friendly, kind, and engaging as a GM, especially for a newbie. I'd definitely play with him again.
