Such a lucky find! Our regular game had gotten cancelled so we signed up for one of Britt's one-shots. Her pre-game communication was excellent and her Discord server was friendly. On game day she had assembled a really great group of folks, I was truly sad when the adventure was over- we would've been a great team for a longer campaign. One player had some microphone difficulties and she was able to keep them involved in the game through chat without slowing down gameplay, I thought that was very well done and not easy to make feel seamless. The maps Britt chose were very cool and her monsters super unique! (Won't give away and spoilers for the "Trial & Error" game). I play A LOT of DnD (currently in 4 campaigns) and can be super picky about paid Game Masters, Britt checks all the boxes for me and I'll definitely be back for more games!
Playing with Steven in a bounty board one-shot left me with such a good vibe! We wanted to set up a game with family members out of town and he helped us schedule a day that worked for everyone. He was very responsive prior to the game with character building questions and such. We chose from his awesome list of one-shots and our characters met at the tavern where the "bounty board" was posted. The initial part was mostly character introductions and a little light role-play to get the party all acquainted then we were off the races! We liked his DM style very much, his reasoning is sound when questions came up and he has some fun home brew stuff. His voices are really good and he didn't get miffed if Roll20 acted dumb. We also had a new player in our group and he was WONDERFUL with her. Even though it was a one-shot everyone got a little bit of spotlight. The game left me with a happy feeling which isn't really normal for me, I usually find something to gripe about lol! Update- we have since scheduled a year+ long commitment with Steven and are looking forward to doing some serious dungeon delving and character building in a 20 level campaign.
The best one-shot I've ever been a part of! So many great things- where to start? I had never been on video during a game or had a DM use a real table top with minis. Was a bit nervous but it was really great, nice being able to see folks faces and explanations of things visually! My favorite part was Taylor's energy and enthusiasm, positive vibe and just infectiously fun. We laughed a lot during the session :) His voices were superb and NPCs rich and lovingly crafted. The one-shot was CHALLENGING! We really had to work together and think hard about how to go about things. There was no "one-way" to solve things which let multiple PCs use whatever skills they had, neat little sandbox that could've gone a number of ways. The adventure piqued my interest in the world he is building for sure!
Just Masterful. Wow! My husband and I are still talking about the one-shot we did with DM Carson last night, liked it so much we're already looking at his calendar to schedule another session. My favorite thing? He GETS IT. He understands the elements of a story, what's important and what's not. So many one-shots get bogged down with mundane details and he made it clear from the start that would not be the case. His "You do the thing" style for travel and such was just perfect, we were actually able to complete the whole quest. Felt good to get a win, can't say how many one-shots I've died in haha! I also liked that actions had consequences. My PC killed a foe and he gave me the opportunity to call it non-lethal if I chose to. One of the foes who was spared turned out to be a healer! His voices were great, maps were as well. NPCs were thought out with care. There was a quiet player in the group and he was allowed to be quiet. There was a talkative player in the group and she was allowed to be talkative. Great communication right from the start and a neat tool for rolling stats. DM Carson is erudite without being stuffy and the premise of using folklore for a D&D game was just brilliant!
What a wonderfully descriptive DM! I completed a month long mini-campaign called Scribes of Old Sharn with DM Willmore set in Eberron. Had read a bunch of books in this setting and really wanted to play a game there. He did not disappoint! Lore wise everything was spot on, he even used a lot of sayings and slang I remember from the books. Setting aside, he is just such a kind person. Willing to listen to what someone is trying to do and help them figure out a way to do it. Each character was given many "cool" spotlight moments during the games and special attention to character development. My favorite thing about DM Willmore is his mastery of descriptive storytelling. Creating an immersive setting with words alone is no small task but he does it beautifully. The maps were great- don't get me wrong- but it was the way he described things that brought the story to life! We played around the holidays and he accommodated schedules really well. Hate to say it but I was a problem player scheduling wise, needed to push back our start date and asked for the sessions to occur earlier than advertised. He made it happen and didn't make a big deal of it. Oh- Also- The session zero was Very Interesting!
