Ran is an amazing DM. I joined her for a one shot and was amazing at how she brought it to a satisfying conclusion in only a few hours with five randomly assembled PCs. She invites you into the collective story telling elements of the game in a way that feels organic and powerful. I hope to play at her table again sometime soon.
I've been playing in Felipe's games for over two years. He helped me learn how to play Table Top RPGs with patience and humor. He is especially good for new players but keeps things interesting for the veterans as well. Stop reading this review and sign up for a one-shot with Felipe. You won't regret it. But I have to sing his praises for a little longer. I've mostly played DND 5e with Felipe. He has created an entire homebrew setting called Irhafel complete with custom magic items, homebrew races, and classes. It is staggering the level of detail and immersion he brings into the world. I really like how he asks the players what they are interested in knowing about a new city or group of people and he can work interesting things about their culture, economy, and history into the role play. Felipe keeps combat moving and engaging. He has a ton of maps and tricks up his sleeve to make exploration feel genuinely scary and surprising. He brings a wide cast of NPCs into the roleplay and always leaves space for players to have cool moments. I've also played one-shots with other TTRPG systems and he excels at those as well. Felipe really cares about his players having fun. There are delicate ways to address inter-player dynamics to make sure everyone is having fun and I've seen Felipe manage several of those in a way that address the issue and makes sure the whole group can get back on track. Very impressive emotional intelligence and communication skills.
I played two sessions with GM Rodrigo. He has a really great mastery of all the things that make a great GM. He provides immersive narration, he commits to the role play in a way that makes different NPCs feel different to talk to you, and does a good job having combat move along and feel fun. I want to find opportunities to play in his games again soon.
