Itoh is great! Very cordial and easy to play with. Does a great job answering questions and moving the story along when it feels like the table conversations become a little dry. They has that natural British wit we all think we have. It's been a pleasure being at their table.
Daggerheart is a game built for storytellers. If your goal is to tell a compelling narrative with your table, this is the system to run. Many of its mechanics focus on more than just combat or skill checks. They are designed to support the story unfolding at the table. Encounters feel fluid and, with the right GM, almost seamless. That said, the system does ask a lot from the person running it. Without strong table control, combat can feel a bit clunky or even unfair at times. In the hands of a confident GM, though, Daggerheart can create some truly fantastic storytelling moments.
There’s a reason that when people talk about tabletop RPGs, Dungeons & Dragons is the first thing that comes to mind. Love it or hate it, D&D has been a huge part of the pop-culture zeitgeist for years. It’s fun, it’s flexible, and it’s a game almost everyone at least recognizes. Because of that, it’s an easy entry point for new players and DMs just starting their tabletop journeys. Sure, shows like Critical Role helped boost its popularity, but the real reason it has stuck around this long is simple: people enjoy playing it. At the end of the day, D&D is just plain fun.
If you're looking for an active play-by-post DM, Aspen is for you. They take the time to get to know their player's preferences, incorporate player input on characters and story, and really put the effort into building a game the player will enjoy. Overall, I've had a great time. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys romantic storytelling.
