Do you like games where consequences drive a story forward? Where your character's suffering really does build character? Where you get NPCs that you hate to love and love to hate? Then Jim is your man! Playing in Jim's games is an absolute joy. He has managed to ignite my love for the Avatar world and sets up great settings where the PCs are at the center of the drama. He's great at letting the group split up and jump between spotlighting everyone. Whether it's running a campaign, a one-shot with impromptu PCs or a completely off-the-rails solo session, the games are a blast. The flexibility and creativity is through the roof! I can highly recommend Jim as a GM at this point.
Dessa is an incredible DM with the incredible skill of keeping track a party of dramatic chaos gremlins all the way through a campaign. She can take what you as the player give her and turn it into incredible (and sometimes heartbreaking) narratives that really pays off. She also creates a safe and inclusive space for queer people and brings that feeling into her games too. I also truly appreciate her versatility in systems (even when just discussing them) and you can be sure to have a great time in whatever game you choose her as a DM for!
I think most of the reviews here summarizes quite well what makes Miguel such a joy ti have as a DM - his world feels alive where the players' actions have consequences, good or bad. The NPCs are wonderfully presented and so effortlessly evoke a multitude of emotions that makes you invested. The storytelling keeps you on your toes and makes you want to come back every week for more. But I think that the one thing I especially want to commend Miguel for is the ability to have the important conversations, whether things in a group are working or not. I have played in a multitude of campaigns, paid and free, but being able to sit a group down and talking things through is something that is often lacking. Having a DM who is willing to create a space where it is okay to be vulnerable and honest without fear of judgement and be met with the same is such a rare quality. And that is a major reason why I find that Miguel is a wonderful DM. I've often seen DMs claiming to create a safe space, but never have I had someone committing to it the way Miguel does. So not only can you be sure to have an absolutely amazing experience in a game run by Miguel, but you can also be certain that any concerns you have are taken seriously. If there is one DM I will recommend to someone else, Miguel will be the first that comes to mind!
