I've been in one of Uncle's play-by-post campaigns for three quarters of a year, with no signs of slowing. That is impressive itself, in my opinion, but here are some more things I appreciate. - He updates regularly during the week, driving an original take on classic Faerûn. - Combats are always fast-paced and exciting. Uncle implements monsters and mechanics from past editions, where they excel. - He is inclusive, and has office hours weekly for in-depth discussion. - He has studied, performed, and mentored D&D and role-play for a number of decades, and is willing to share his eldritch knowledge. I could go on, but unless you're signing up for a PbP, I doubt you've read this far. If you have, I wholeheartedly recommend Uncle DM.
Highly recommended. GM Ozymandias is a pro at play by post games. He keeps the game interesting and moving forward, with cinematic combats and detailed descriptions of what our characters see. He plays by the book except for not allowing certain (admittedly broken) choices like V. Human and Silvery Barbs. That worried me at first, but Ozymandias has shown that it's not Us Vs. Him. It seems rather that he wants a more level playing field for non-power gamers, or just a chance to give us a challenge. He compensates by giving out feats and/or items. Overall I am thrilled to be in one of his games, reserve a seat while you can!
I'm playing in my first PbP game with Dreams and Enigma Co-DMing. So far, it has been very fun. Having a campaign going on in the background that you can check in on and add to at will is really cool. They have been very knowledgeable and patient with myself and others new to the format. Since we've started, a npc has been following us around writing a poem about our deeds, and we did indeed receive an actual, well made poem that included our characters unique flavor. The DM team has done a great job bringing the campaign to life and I'll be sticking around with them and in this format of play for sure.
Seamus did an amazing job all around, from character backstory to the heat of combat; He made sure we all got our moments and gave detailed descriptions based on our characters. I was so excited about my character that I relentlessly fed him more backstory over many direct messages, and he not only responded but helped me expand on ideas. There were no awkward moments or long pauses, despite session 1, and nothing we could do slowed him down. We also enjoyed a beautiful, detailed map in a VTT to explore and overcome.
