BG (Before Gannon) and SG (Since Gannon)… BG I never had luck with two things I wanted to try. Fallout and PbP. SG It’s awesome. Fallout feels like Fallout and a PbP that has great storytelling, characters and is immersive. The pacing is also great. If I had more time I’d join more of Gannon’s ‘tables’. Highly recommended
I have been playing ttrpgs online for about a year now and have had several great GMs here with StartPlaying but Thor is special. I am in two campaigns with him. The first was a brand new system for me, Dungeon World, and I love it and the table so much I decided to join in a 5e campaign also. Thor keeps the table very player focused. Fun First! The 'Rule of Cool' is important but not at the expense of rules. If you are creative you will be rewarded. The table stays friendly and the story keeps moving forward. His use of the digital tools is fantastic and really adds to the ambience by making them easy to use and therefore not the center of your focus. His use of voice acting, and music along with his narration are incredibly immersive. Thor is a top tier GM offering fantastic adventures with a low barrier to entry. I would absolutely recommend joining one of his tables regardless of your previous level of experience with online ttrpgs. I would also like to encourage interested players to join tables that are already underway. You can on ramp seamlessly and without worry about disruption or acceptance by the table. If he is offering a system or adventure that you are unfamiliar with but interested in, my recommendation is to sign up without delay.
A fantastic story teller that allows player freedom but manages to keep the pace and story moving. In my experience as a player that is a rarity. His voice acting is very good and adds to the setting. He is also very engaged and responsive out of game (Discord) to answer any questions and create a great table. I would absolutely recommend this GM for new and veteran players.
I’ve really enjoyed playing with The Blue Collar DM. Although I had some experience before signing up with him, I’ve learned so much. He gives players plenty of room to try stuff and drops hints for new players that are helpful to them. He also does a great job in setting the atmosphere for the campaign. I’m currently in two very different campaigns with him and the atmosphere is dead on with the story. Lastly, and this is important, he is always prepared. He can provide a great recap if someone missed a session, and there is always a perfect cliffhanger or appropriate stopping point right at the time limit.
