About Zimy

Hi! Ciao! My name is Simone, but everyone calls me Zimy. I’ve been running tabletop RPGs for... a long time now! My journey started when I picked up my very first rulebook in a bookshop, discovering the mysterious World of Darkness. Since then, I’ve collected dozens of systems and shared countless stories with friends and strangers alike, whether leading live campaigns, diving into LARPs, or running online sessions. I have always been passionate about RPGs. For decades, I’ve devoured all kinds of manuals, imagining fantastic worlds, stories, and characters; sharing this passion of mine with others and seeing them have fun together is one of the things that excites me the most in life. As a game master, I love weaving your character's history, goals, and whises directly into the fabric of the campaign. The story evolves around your choices because every decision you make ripples through the world, shaping the plot and driving the narrative forward in unexpected ways. I can’t wait to meet you all at the table or online and see what incredible stories we’ll build together. Banner photo by Juskteez Vu on Unsplash

I became a GM because

I'm the type of person who finds reading a TTRPG manual a pleasure rather than a burden. Seeing all those rules come alive in the act of playing, that's the reason I'm still a GM.

My favorite books are

the Discworld series by Sir Terry Pratchett. They are the reason I picked up English when I was 13, and they are probably to blame for my obsession with fantasy*. *And satirical comedy, though I try to be serious about that.

When I'm not running games I'm...

usually reading a new manual, either exploring a new system or diving into a premade adventure, to steal exciting new ideas for my next campaign.

How Zimy runs games

I love to keep a flexible table, adapting the expectations of my players with the story I want to narrate: epic fights and drama moments; entire sessions dedicated to one giant boss fight, or to pure roleplaying. I don't want my players (or me!) to be bored by repetitive content, so I try to be eclectic and change my approach session by session, to keep them on their toes! Of course, if there is a favourite style of playing, I'll adapt to the request, as I really love to give players what they want.

I prep by

spending hours reading, then I jot down a list of ideas for the next session, expanding on the ones I feel the most. After that, I review character sheets for the millionth time to find anything I can use to put my players' characters in the spotlight.

My games focus on...

players, first and foremost. Even if I have a story in my mind, or I'm running a premade adventure, I'll always adapt and change the script to insert the backstories, the wishes and the choices of their characters in the narrative.

Rules are...

a fantastic tool! I love to compare how different systems manage to apply a different rule to the same situation. In fact, it shows how rules can be adapted to the story, and not vice versa.

Zimy's ideal table

First and foremost, my table is welcoming: here you can find a safe space to distract yourself from the worries of the real world. I love being surrounded by creative and kind people, like me!, so if you want a seat at a table where you can be yourself (even with pointy ears or draconic wings or a lightsaber) then you are in the right place.
