About Zee
Hey everybody! You can call me Zee and I've been running TTRPGs for over a decade now. I first started playing TTRPGs back in high school when a friend invited me to play D&D 4th edition, and I immediately fell in love. 'You mean to say I can BE that ferocious beast-man with a giant sword who fights demons on Tuesdays and slays dragons on the weekends!? Sign me up!' But it didn't stop there. Before long, I got the craving to run my own game, to weave tales of villainy and heroism, to craft my own worlds, big and small, for my friends to explore and save! More than 10 years later and I've played and run games in many different systems (VtM, SW-Edge of the Empire, Starfinder, etc.), but D&D 5e has remained my bread and butter for most of that time. Lately though, I've been very excited to dive deeper into Draw Steel and Daggerheart! Last thing to mention is that I value communication and respect at my table. I work with safety tools to ensure that everyone is comfortable and has a good time. If you cannot show basic respect and kindness towards me or the other players at the table, then this is not the space for you. With all that said, I hope to see you on our next adventure!

I got started GMing...
not long after I was first introduced to D&D. I started getting the itch to run my own games. I wanted to build my own little worlds, throw all my fun and crazy ideas at my friends and see what kind of stories would come out of it. I've been the forever GM ever since, and never once regretted it!
When I'm not running games I'm...
prepping for the next session. I can't help getting excited, thinking about the implications of the last session or expanding on some worldbuilding inspiration. That or painting minis. I've got a decent collection building up... mostly unpainted xP
How Zee runs games
My style is fairly laid back. While character voices and deep roleplaying are encouraged (I certainly strive to deliver on both with my NPCs), they are by no means required. There will be plenty of out-of-character chatter and jokes, as fits the vibe of the group. In-game, I tend to blend social roleplay, where your character's decisions matter to the direction of the story and how they move through the in-game world, and tactical combat, where injury and death are on the line! In either case, my goal is to make it so your choices matter without being needlessly punishing. I want folks to have fun. That's what we're here for after all! In terms of themes and setting, my games have generally fallen into classic fantasy with dashes of steam/aether punk, political intrigue, and the occasional eldritch or gothic horror. Maybe I'll get crazy and do something completely different one of these days!

I deal with rules issues by...
listening to the concerns of my players and considering the rules intent. Usually, if there's some uncertainty about the interpretation of a rule, I will air on the side of the players. The exception is if doing so would break the immersion of the game or the enjoyment of other players at the table.
Rules are...
an important frame of reference for us to understand and interact with the worlds we are playing in. BUT they should not stand in the way of fun. What's most important is that the entire group can (at least mostly) agree on what makes for the best game.
Zee's ideal table
I want to cultivate an atmosphere where we are able to joke and have fun, as well as lock-in when needed and give proper weight to moments of tension. I want my players to be able to explore raw feelings, to face moments of stress and adversity in a safe environment. For a campaign, I want players who are committed to telling a compelling story together and engaging with whatever themes we agree to incorporate.

I love it when a player
engages with the world and its characters, including by putting thought and effort into developing their backstory. I love incorporating players ideas for NPCs, locations, and cultures into my world!
I think it's a red flag when players...
hog the spotlight or try to force their notions onto another player's choices. I strive to give each player their time in the sun, and I would remind each of my players that these are a collaborative games we play. If you can't work with other people's ideas, this probably isn't the table for you.
