About Adrian Tymes
I have been GMing since shortly after 2000, and playing since the late 1980s. I have run more campaigns than I care to count, from multi-year epics (not yet a decade or more) of my own design to one-shots. I tend to favor player agency - which means I steer away from horror, though neither do I favor Monty Haul to the point that it undoes the story. I have likewise read more RPG systems than I care to count (quite a few of them not listed on StartPlaying's forms because they are too old or niche), and written content for some of them. Some of that content has been published by the system's publisher. IRL I am an engineer, so I tend to think through the implications of fantastical elements: when I am confronted with a new magic system for a new RPG, I sometimes consider how one could build a bridge with it (if that is in theme with the magic).

People are always surprised when I tell them
about the other parts of my life. "You're a GM? What's your day job?" "Rocket scientist." (Or whatever project I'm working on.) "You're a rocket scientist? What do you do for fun?" "Write sci-fi, play video games." "You're a gamer?" "In the video game sense, and I also GM." Et cetera.
How Adrian Tymes runs games
Combat light, roleplay/narrative heavy, some puzzles. I help the players tell a story, and try to veer away from "roll playing".
