About Cade Lambson

Hello all! I’m Cade. I fell in love with this wonderful game years ago and never looked back. I love character interaction, story, and the high intensity that players bring with their shenanigans. I’m very much an immersion-first DM, focusing on big hero moments and collaborative storytelling. I have 8 years of DM experience, and I’m currently running a Home campaign that’s been going for almost two years. I run D&D 5e and have adopted 2024 character and monster options into the 5e ruleset. Most of my experience is on Roll20, but i have set up Foundry for my campaigns. To date I’ve completed 5 full campaigns (levels 1–20, ~65 sessions each), run 30+ one-shots (some stretching to 2–3 sessions), and about 8 fast-paced “epic” campaigns (levels 1–20, ~40 sessions each). I enjoy long campaigns, but I also love short, high-tempo arcs, so I run a mix depending on what my players want. Quick context on activity: for the last two years I have not played games on here. I, however did continue playing games in person or online. I’ve shifted my focus to DMing Full time and am opening seats to build long-term tables, because this is where I want to be. I run games because this is where I come alive. I stitch histories and people into the map so every step feels real, then invite you to change it. Improv keeps the world breathing; world-creation gives it bones. Together we chase danger, laughter, shock, and triumph. Because of this, the best sessions are when you surprise me as much as I surprise you.

I became a GM because

My first game fell apart and I really wanted to keep playing. Since then I’ve DM’d many campaigns. I LOVE THIS GAME.

My favorite shows/movies are

Movies: The Lord of the Rings, A Knight’s Tale, Gladiator, The Emperor’s New Groove, and many more. TV: New Girl, Vikings, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Game of Thrones, Modern Family, Psych, Bones, Friends, The Office, and more.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Singing, taking voice-acting lessons, playing rugby, drawing, writing poetry, and having deep intellectual conversations about some new thing I’ve read.

How Cade Lambson runs games

Cinematic, character-driven 5e (with 2024 options), deadly stakes, big feelings, and in-depth, creative NPCs. I love a mix of roleplay and combat, and I bring intensity and immersion through sensory description and distinct voices so you feel like part of the world, not just a passenger. I believe danger should be felt and telegraphed, so I do run deadly campaigns. I also love making players feel like heroes. I’ll homebrew items and abilities to help you realize the exact character you imagine, as long as it makes sense for who your character is. I’m far more interested in story than pure power gaming (power can still be fun when it serves the character and narrative). I enjoy worldbuilding, so you’ll get something fresh and unique. That being said, I’m not opposed to published adventures. Since I own every book, I have access to any source or module.

My games focus on...

Player decisions. I provide the space; your choices move the world. I react to characters first because players change the world.

Rules are...

Important, but they shouldn’t halt creativity and logic. If you can make it make sense, we can try it, and that has led to some amazing story moments.

When it comes to voices

I have done a lot of work with many different coaches to get to the place i am with voice acting. Its important for me to be good at voices so that I can draw you in with the character and not break emmersion.

Cade Lambson's ideal table

You’ll fit right in if you enjoy your character actually changing the world. Character decision and DM reaction are crucial to making an amazing collaborative story.

Featured Prompts

I am for a vibe that's...

in-depth and creative. Off-the-cuff ideas. both silly or serious. It is amazing what can shift everything, and that’s the fun. :)

I think min/maxing...

can be fun. It allows me to make some amazing homebrew creations. That being said I think above all, characters should be built in line with who their character actually is, but as strong as possible. :)

My table is not the place for...

players who don’t want to make decisions and just “follow along” my adventure. It isn’t mine, it’s ours. I’m a much better DM with players who interact with the world and the NPCs around them.
