About WanderingDM
Hey all, I have over 1,000 hours actively running games; and once you’ve added up all the research, prep time, map creation, world building, combat encounters, and npc’s interactions, I have well over 5,000 hours as a DM under my belt. I’ve run the same 6 players through 3 campaigns over the last 5 years (Started actively playing February 2020). I’m hoping to start another long form campaign and have the new players have fun for years. If this weren’t enough, I’ve played BG 1,2,&3 multiple times as well as Icewind Dale 1 & 2. I’ve also read most of the Drizzt novels. When it comes to the Forgotten Realms lore I’m fairly knowledgeable. Cheers!

I became a GM because
Wanted to start a family DnD game, was supposed to be a one shot…5 years later lol
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Diabolical, Duplicitous, and Lovable
When I'm not running games I'm...
Adventures in the real world (backpacker) with my pup. Or enjoying dnd content, usually forgotten realms.
How WanderingDM runs games
I improvise well on the fly, do a wide arrange of voices (think Temu Robin Williams), and believe heavily in the rule of cool. I run balanced campaigns as far as RP to combat ratio. Usually my settings are balanced as well between wilderness, dungeons/strongholds, and the occasional city sprawl. There are adult themes in my campaigns so 18+ is mandatory. However I don’t delve into bedroom scenes, so if you want to be a rockstar bard expect a lot of skipping and cutscenes. I do expect a certain amount of matual respect from my players towards each other. No talking over each other or rolling without asking please. Otherwise I like to have a whimsically good time, and make sure my players are too. I build the world and love to see what people do with it.

My games focus on...
40% combat, 20% RP, 20% exploration, 20% who knows what just happened but fun lol
Rules are...
Just a framework to keep the adventure alive.
When it comes to voices
I’m the Temu Robin Williams, but I try.
WanderingDM's ideal table
My tables are generally for older/more mature people 25+. There’s a lot of dark humor and cursing (so much cursing), as well as subject matter that may make some people feel uncomfortable. RP can include scenes of intense emotions and situations, etc. Generally speaking though, my groups are usually light hearted and whimsical 99% of the time. And I’ve never had anyone upset by the roleplay (except Wally’s betrayal lol). Long form campaigns spanning multiple years are my go to. 420 and beer friendly, but please don’t get too buzzed while playing, and be considerate of others. That all being said if you’re a younger player (18+) and want to try a more mature game, you’re more than welcome to join. New player friendly regardless if you’re 18 or 80.

I love it when a player
Does something completely unexpected on the fly. Rule of cool is good.
I think metagaming...
Meta gaming is exhausting, so exhausting that doing it will cause your character to gain one level of fatigue…
My table is not the place for...
I like having an open table for everyone, that being said if you’re someone easily made uncomfortable this might not be a good fit. There will be mature and dark content/language/humor in the games. As well as possible roleplay themes of intense emotions.
