About Vyridia Wyrmweaver
I’ve been playing and GMing tabletop RPGs for over 12 years, and somewhere along the way “I’ll just run one game” turned into a long-term love of building worlds, inventing NPCs, and watching players immediately derail my carefully prepared plans in the best possible way. Most of my experience is with Dungeons & Dragons, but I’ve also run or played FFG Star Wars, Daggerheart, Monsterhearts, Vampire: The Masquerade, Starfinder, the Cosmere RPG, and plenty of other systems. I tend to fall in love with fictional settings as a whole. I’m the sort of person who wants to know the history, factions, strange little bits of lore, and who that suspicious person in the corner of the tavern actually is. That carries into my GMing. I enjoy creating worlds and characters that feel like they exist beyond the immediate adventure. Outside of RPGs, I’m a big board game fan. Dominion is my favourite, but Battlestar Galactica, Catan, and Talisman all get plenty of love too. I’m also into sci-fi, fantasy, anime, and video games. Basically, if there’s a cool world to get lost in, I’m probably already halfway down the lore rabbit hole.

I started running games because...
I discovered D&D just before 5e and loved the idea of a regular excuse to get friends together. Then I fell headfirst into the stories, characters and creativity. Years later, it’s still my favourite creative outlet and it’s given me some priceless friendships.
My favorite shows/movies are
Give me big ideas, messy characters and a little existential dread. Battlestar Galactica is my favourite show, Magnolia my favourite film, and Ghost in the Shell and Evangelion are my go-to anime.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Probably doom-scrolling when I should be doing something productive 😅 Otherwise I’m gaming, painting D&D minis, planning my next session, or making the bold decision to sacrifice sleep for one more hobby.
How Vyridia Wyrmweaver runs games
I like my games to feel like a good fantasy adventure should: exciting when the swords come out, engaging when the characters are talking, and occasionally ridiculous in exactly the right way. I enjoy dramatic combat and meaningful stakes, but I don’t want every session to feel grim or overly serious. There should also be room for jokes, odd plans, character banter, and the moments where the party gets far more emotionally invested in a random shopkeeper than the villain I spent two hours preparing. Character development is a big part of how I GM. I encourage players to explore their personalities, relationships, goals, and flaws as the campaign unfolds, and I’m very open to reflavouring spells, abilities, and other mechanics to better suit the character you actually want to play. I also love coming up with distinctive NPCs, mysteries, and story beats that give players something to engage with beyond simply moving from encounter to encounter. My favourite games are collaborative, creative, and full of moments the group is still talking about weeks later.

I deal with rules issues by...
Think fast, rule fairly, keep rolling! If the ask is reasonable, I’ll usually allow it rather than halt the adventure. Afterward I’ll consult the ancient tomes (Google), hear player feedback, and settle how we’ll handle it moving forward.
Rules are...
Rules are the map, not the destination. I stick close to them so new players learn what to expect at other tables, but when the dragonfire hits the fan and someone has an outrageous idea? The Rule of Cool gets a seat at the table.
When it comes to voices
Love doing voices? Go for it! Hate doing voices? Also completely fine. I’ll try them myself, but NPC accents are not legally binding, Jerry the guard may be British one week and vaguely Scottish the next.
