About Viking Skald | Greg
Hi, I'm Greg. I've been a player, a Storyteller and a GM since the viking age. Laid-back, fun, friendly, easy to get along with! Been running events at cons, in gaming clubs, and with friends for forever, it's what I love doing most of all! To do that for a living would be a dream come true!

My favorite system of all Time is
Pendragon RPG - because of the way it supports interesting roleplay and storytelling in the mechanics.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Thinking about ideas for games I want to run... and finding inspiration in TV series, movies, books, gaming and nature.
How Viking Skald | Greg runs games
My GM style: I like to keep a light-hearted mood around the table, where I don't mind joking and fun, even though the theme of the story might be a bit on the darker side. Depends on what the group likes though. I will absolutely let you the players shine, your characters are the heroes of the story, and your actions will guide what part of the story we are focused on. But you might not always get exactly what you want, in challenges lies part of the journey, don't you think?! What do you get? A very experienced GM who will listen to what you say both as players and characters, and will adapt the game to those ideas to sometimes rather extreme levels - like changing the whole story. I like for player character actions to have real consequences and to change the story ingame. Your ideas, actions, desires, impulses WILL change things, for better or worse! Gaming style and type of game: Player driven, sandbox, open-ended is what I really like to run, and I find it works really well in any setting, I just have to set up the bounderies and story elements for it. I typically run a session 0 with you the players to establish what and how we would like to play. I prefer intrigue and politics over combat and action, but I'm open to it all. But do expect your actions as a player to matter in the world we play in. Rule of cool always beats rule advocates! Hope to see you IG!

Rules are...
Rules are tools. Useful but should not get in the way of fun. I like rules-light games and rule of cool. If you think your character should be able to do it, sure lets go for it. Failing at times often turns out to be fun in game situations and can often turn into fun developments of the story.
Viking Skald | Greg's ideal table
Story first! If you enjoy a table where the stories flow smoothly and where you the players get to decide where you want to go and what you want to do, and the stories follow your lead (with a surprise or two along the way), well you would be a good fit for my table! I see stories as open-ended mostly, so they can surprise even the GM, which is part of the fun! I don't always expect everything to get resolved right away, sometimes things stay a mystery (forever or for later). Lets discover stories together! If you are into a lot of combat and rules having a central role, as well as putting a lot of focus on the mechanical parts of gaming, which some players do enjoy, it's a different style than my preference. In that case I think there are other GMs that might fit you better. Just being honest. All that said, lets tell some fun stories together!
